4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another great offering by the guys at Sam Adams. Pours a nice orange color with a piney hop nasal explosion. The taste is crisp and clean with a good finish. Definitely a repeat drinker.

Bomber pours an almost clear amber with a big fluffy off-white head and lots of lacing. Smells like a double IPA: piney and cirtrus hops. Aroma is more of the same, but with a noticeable caramel malt backbone. Has a medium body, almost oily texture. Taste isnít as bitter as most double IPAs, and is a bit salty (seawater in honor of Captain Cook?). This was my special purchase for this average weekend, and this beer doesnít disappoint. On a really good weekend Iíll go back to FFF Dreadnaught instead

650ml bottle. One for the hop heads and a celebration of hops. A big piney, citrus hop explosion in the nose with a great flavour in the mouth - caramel and fruit mixed together. One of Sam Adams finest.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured a nice clean amber with a light off white head.
The smell is light and caramel with just a touch of piney hops, very lacking in the dry hopping for a double IPA, not even as hoppy as many good single IPAs.
The flavor has a nice bitterness to it, with a big caramel malt backbone, much closer to balanced than I like Double IPAís to be. Not much on hop flavor, just bitterness with lingering malty sweetness.
The mouthfeel has a light oily resin to it, but is a bit light on carbonation.
With Simcoe becoming so hard to come by, this beer seems like a waste of its talents, to malty, no dry hopping and a bit boring.

Very tasty brew by Sam Adams. I am very happy that they have been doing these bomber brews. Really awesome.
Aroma- straight up hops, pine, and citrus notes.
Great malt to bitterness balance, great taste.
Lingering bitterness, but also has fruitiness to back that up.

BottleÖ This beer rocks!... Clear, brilliant, dirty-orange ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is of pine, resin, honey and a hint of sugar cookie. Full-bodied and ultra silky with lazy carbonation. The flavor leans bitter thanks to a generous helping of nice, tannic, citrusy hops. Huge honey, caramel and biscuit malt backbone, but the residual sweetness is quite low. Lengthy, acridly bitter finish. Solid stuff!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear amber with a one-finger head that left a nice film and terrific lace. Strong piney hops offset by a caramel sweetness that was just as strong. Medium body and carbonation, and a gently warming alcohol kick. Reminds me of a Double Bastard, with a little less of everything.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours amber with slightly off white head. Nice looking beer. Aroma is mostly pine. Very malty, lots of caramel flavor, with pine hops, little bit of spiceyness. I think the bottle I got must be a little old, slightly skunky. Not overly hoppy or interesting. Slightly dissapointed with this one, but its ok.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2012 Bomber, thanks Brenn79. Pours clear copper with a large cream-colored rocky head that leaves some neat lacework. Aroma is peachy and smells a bit like marinara sauce (!!!). Odd. Itís also quite a bit floral. Taste is really caramelly and toffeeish. Its qualities are more reminiscent of certain "American Strong Ale"s Iíve rated on here than your typical Impy IPA. It starts out sweet and finishes with a lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is syrupy and the carbonation is pretty soft; body is full. Nice beer. Addendum: my enthusiasm for this beer went downhill in a big way after the first glass. It got cloyingly sweet and started giving me a headache, making the score go down.

Bomber: poured clear orange with a thick, creamy, off white, lasting head. Piney hop aroma. Flavor is kind of a dud. Some piney hops but bitter leading to an even more bitter finish. I was expecting a little caramel sweetness but never got it. It got slightly sweeter as it warmed up. Decent beer but far from the very best IIPAs.
