COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique double IPA takes the style’s origins a step further. IPAs were born out of making an ale that could sustain a long voyage. For our take, we were inspired by the indomitable Capt. James Cook whose 3rd voyage made him the first to navigate a treacherous route from England to New Zealand to the Pacific Northwest. Using Cascade hops from each of these regions we created a brew that’s citrusy, earthy and full of bold character.

Copper coloring. Earthy, citrus armoa. Sweet taste. Smooth finish. Very good beer. Not as stong as some Double IPAs, but very tasty.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Enjoy by July 2014 on the box so this is a bit passed its peak. Aroma is moderately hippy with quite a bit of grapefruit but a stronger dank, pine resin character with a lot of forest floor notes. Medium light toasted bread and light caramel character with some biscuit notes. Light alcohol spice. Pours a fairly clear, chipper amber color with a big, thick, tan head. Not exactly the color I would expect from a DIPA. Moderate lacing with small legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with some lightly toasted bread and light caramel notes. Moderate biscuit and toasted crackers. Medium strong and slightly harsh bitterness with medium light grapefruit pith notes. Moderately strong point resin and dank, earthy hop notes. Light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation; carbonation had a soft, creamy feel to it. Low, but present hop astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but the hop character isn’t all that great and the malt character is too dark and strong. I think the malt and the hops clash a bit too. Very much an East Coast IPA.

Transfer from BA review on 6-15-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Poured a beautiful amber color with a thick off-white yellow tinted head. The head had wonderful retention but eventually faded to give a great deal of lacing. Smell – A nice sweet caramel and biscuit aroma are mixed with a stronger pine smell. A grapefruit and lemongrass aroma are also present mixing with the others nicely. Taste – The taste starts out biscuit and bready, with a lighter caramel flavor. These are mixed with a pine and citrus flavor. The pine grows stronger toward the middle of the taste where a lighter alcohol flavor comes onto the scene. Given more time the alcohol flavor gets stronger and when it mixes with more bitter citrus and some earthy hop flavors a bitter and boozy flavor is left on the tongue taking away from the overall taste. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is nice and creamy with a carbonation level that is medium. Both are wonderful for an Imperial IPA and really allow one to experience both the malt as well as the hop. Overall – This would have been a wonderful brew as it had a fantastic look, smell, and mouthfeel, unfortunately its taste was quite off; There was far too much booziness and it was a bit on the bitter side.

Another nifty bottle of beer from nike. Big dull hop aroma. Large thick rocky head on an orangish colored clear beer. Thick resinous palate. Taste, if you call it that, is nothing but crazy up front pine tar mixed with hand soap mixed with chewing on unripe green grapefruit rinds, and I don’t mean sour, I mean bitter, yeah wewy bitter, for the rest of the day ruined taste buds forget about eating dinner anytime soon. The epitome of highly hopped flavored beer. If I was looking for a kick in the jaw, and some of you are, this would be great. But I’m not impressed.

Bottle courtesy pikapp327. Pours a clear amber red color with a foamy white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy. Drippy hops, sweet and resiny. Flavor is dry, hoppy, sappy resin and more hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska på Broadway. Vacker vitt skum. Sköna toner av knäck och apelsinmarmelad som återfinns i näsan och smaken. Bra balans och mycket trevlig humlebeska!

Bottle from QClub at home. Deep copper pour with thin foamy head. Slightly musty piney hoppy aroma with lots of candy sweetness. Taste is similarly piney hops with an unexpectedly thick/slick palate for a DIPA. Very bitter finish. Not bad - especially for the price.

Love IPA’s, but this one did not appeal to me. Too sweet, the malt gets lost, and there is some sort of spice overshadowing everything else. Too complicated, too much alcohol, just not a good taste.

Bottle at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö, Gustav Adolf Torg
Bright amber color, hazy, with generous compact head. The aroma is strong and nice, a bit fruity and sweaty, lightly herbal (thyme and heather). Syrupy and oily mouthfeel; moderately sweet, with caramel and crystal malt flavor, hint of nuts and vegetables, strong bitterness. Elements are it cohesive, the result is not fully pleasant.
