This is another great beer from Sam Adams. Great body, massive aroma. Good balanced flavor with a hop kick. Good stuff.

Bomber. Nose of earthy, lightly woody, lightly herbal hops, some citrus there but only as an accent and about on part with the spicy element. Deeply clouded amber with a rocky tannish head. Super soft and slightly airy feel in the mouth, light-medium bitterness matching the level of sweetness, tons of earth with light wood and toffee, fruit running all along the background but mostly contenting itself with a supporting role. Medium body surprisingly malt-forward, with a great depth of complexity there; hops with the spice and faint dough are merely pulling their IPA weight. Approaching a general state of enlightenment. Great idea for a beer!

Sample at Hopfest 2013. Comes golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of malt, florals, and pine. Taste is caramel malt, florals, grapefruit, and pine. Nice.

651 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, off white head, with extensive lacing, over a clear, medium amber (SRM 12) body.......nose is treacle, light citrus, light pine, minimal resin, slight mango.....taste is toffee/caramel, hints of brown sugar, light pine, light mango, finishng with a medium bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, slightly astringent, slightly sticky, alcohol hidden, carbonation low. This is a sweet I/DIPA, with a relatively low degree of hop complexity and bitterness. The result is a beer that is muddled and does not have the clean aromas and flavors of the best in the style. It needs more dry hopping. While the experiment was fun, the result was not as good as hoped. BJCP 7/3/13/4/6

One of the nicest smelling IPAs I’ve ever head. Great taste, hoppy/citrus palate. It definitely feels like a strong beer. The mixture of three hops used really kind of blends to make It’s own unique character.

Pours a clear dark copper on tap with thin off-white head and lacing. Aroma is slight citrus hops and sweet caramel malt back. Taste is bitter malty trash, not thick and resinous at all. Good attempt but probably still made too much of it to be good.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Part of the Sam Adams IPA variety pack. This is one of the easiest to drink double IPAs and my favorite in the variety pack. This has a smooth taste and not as bitter as I expect from a double IPA. The short story describing each of the beers in the variety pack is also interesting to me. I would definitely order this one again. I hope Sam Adams releases some of these outside of the mix pack. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark copper color. Minimal lacing. Starts sweet, has some sour elements, alcohol finish. Dry finish. Unique taste for a 2x ipa, but kind of works.

Bottle. Minimal eggshell head on a mostly clear dark ruby copper. Dusty, grapefruit, razing hops and sweet caramel ini th aroma. Flavor is quite similar ro the aroma, too much caramel in the flavor anid ends with some resin. Medium to thicker body.

Dark copper pour with a beige head. Nice citrus hop aroma with a strong malt backing. Sweet and earthy malt flavor with a bitter hop finish. Very well balanced DIPA.
