Pours a cloudy soft orange. Massive billowy head. Fruit, wheat and yeast in the nose. Taste is semi sweet with a hint of that coriander they talk about. The salt in the beer continues to build as a flavor profile, but does balance out. Yeasty and salty on the tongue on the way out. Interesting beer, need to try it with food.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Attractive label. This was definitely an American take on a classic style, but not bad for that (just not as aggressive perhaps). The notes that came out later, as it warmed, projected a floral quality, and it was an earthy, honest sort of beer. Light color, moderately ambitious flavors. Nice effort. Bottle.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
1 June 2012, bottle. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is straw and dried malt. Thin body and slightly fizzy. Toasted malt and caramel. Meh.

500 ml from Liquor Barn. Straw. Wheat. Yeasty. But not a Gose. Pretty disappointing since I had high expectations for Sam Adams doing a Gose. Not the best six bucks I ever spent.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
16.9 oz bottle, batch 1. Poured into a flute. Half hazy pale yellow color. Thin white head. Some lace. Fruitier than I was expecting. Some tropical flavors, like mango, apricot, peach, strawberries, or watermelon in there. More dry texture. Lighter carbonation. Yeah, thereís a light salty taste, and thatís prominent. Not much sweet or bitterness, really. I shouldíve shared this with somebody, because... This isnít interesting or tasty enough to kill on my own. Yeah itís kind of salty, but Iím not sure what that adds here. Iím not sure what a "gose" is supposed to taste like, but if this is it, I canít call myself a fan (nice to learn about a new style, though). Had to toss the last bit out.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Deeply golden with a lasting head. Rich malt aroma. Full nectar with plenty of carbonation. A rich brew with mild sweetness, defined spice essence, and a real skanky finish. I wonder to myself, why even bother bottling a beer like this let alone brewing one. Drain pour.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the Folsom Whole Foods. Pours hazy amber with a 3 finger foamy white head. Aromas of wheat and light lemon. Med+ body. Flavor is wheat, lemon zest and a touch of peppery spice. The finish is all that but somehow a bit different - maybe itís citric sour, maybe itís salt. Overall a very mild flavor, but somehow suggesting a good pastry (without sugar, etc.)

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty bland brew, but coriander did add a promised "spice" taste. Cloudy amber color. Described as having a "softness" is accurate.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Samuel Adams Verloren has a very thick, creamy, cream-colored head and a quite bubbly, golden-orange appearance. The aroma is faint, but one can detect lightly-roasted, sweet malts, citrus, and maybe salt water. The taste is of fruity sweetness, salt, sweet bread, but no coriander is detected. Those familiar with orange Gatorade will recognize the flavor. Mouthfeel is light to medium and soft, and Samuel Adams Verloren finishes somewhat dry, refreshing, and mild. One can not taste the alcohol at all with this beer. Overall, itís very good. RJT

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Right after Sam Adams charmed me with their Dark Depths, they go and louse things up again with Verloren, a fairly piss-poor attempt at a gose. This beer drinks like a harsh hefeweizen with a faint salty lemon aftertaste on the fade. All the character has been removed from the brew, leaving a pretty, vapid, frustrating pint. Skip this and get another bottle of Dark Depths.
