3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wish I would have gotten a bottle of this instead of only having it as an option for like $8/10z or some bullshit at Tylerís in Durham. Free taste instead? Yes, please. Hazy pale gold pour, and a thin, small head. Taste is meyer lemon, orange, coriander, pale tart wheat, and a bit of salt. Thin palate. Solid, but forget it for that price.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
16.9 ounce bottle. Hazy copper color. Firm creamy beige head with nice clinging lace. Sweet malty nose has hints of coriander and white toast. Interesting subtle sweet malt flavor upfront. Notes of caramel, butter and coriander spice. Some saltiness and grassy hops in finish. Different.

1.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle. Nose is corn and weirdly Belgian. Maybe butter. Diacetyl? Perfume. Taste is weird. Not lacto. Just no. Total dump.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Very disappointed with this one. Taste is very malty with no bitterness and only the smallest trace of sour. A fair bit of salt to be sure, but its the malts that dominate. Also the palate is rather weak and watery. perhaps I have an old bottle?

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Ulysses NYC. Pours a dark brown color with a head that comes and goes. Not as tart as I'd expect and darker. A good beer for people not into the Puckery sourness

2.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Fruity lemon/citrus aroma. Pours cloudy light orange/yellow with a thin quickly fading bright white head. Lemony sourish. Kind of thick in the mouth with a soft mouthfeel up front that finishes a little bitter. Lots of fruit. Like a cidery/meady drink but kind of thick.

I always give props to Samuel Adams for sticking their neck out and trying different styles, breathing life into old styles or pushing the envelope into new ones. Iíve never had a gose before, so Iím rating this one purely on how I enjoyed it. And given it as a whole, it was lifeless. It had a few items going for it, but as an overall experience it was blah.
The beer starts out with a fresh french bread meets salty pool water kind of lemony nose, with caramel syrup. Flavor is fatty and muddled. Thereís some sweet caramel notes, a subtle briny touch..it just reminded me of an under-attenuated brown ale...kinda maybe more like a worty small beer, like the 2nd runnings of a big barleywine w/o any hops. Thanks for the attempt. I can see why the style died out.
