3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 chinchill (582) - South Carolina, USA - FEB 27, 2013
{from notes of 2011 tasting)
12 oz bottle served in pint glass; slight sediment in bottom of bottle added midway thru tasting.
A - hazy golden with a ivory-colored head. Head has average retention and leaves little lace. Looks highly carbonated.
S - toasted grains dominate, with some citrus but little sign of the added "spices"
T - The flavor is less spicy than expected too, but the spices do show up more prominently in flavor than in the aroma. Nice clean, lightly spicy aftertaste.
M - light body. Crisp. Semi-dry, near dry, finish.
This is a unique White Ale. Witbiers are not my favorite style but I found this ale to be both interesting and appealing.

Mostly clear golden yellow pour, head looked nice but didn’t linger. Bready aroma. Light bready flavor, but doesn’t linger. Easy to drink, but nothing special.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lemke10 (540) - Janesville, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 23, 2013
Don’t let the White Ale part fool you, this wit-bier pours an amber color with a slight scent of wheat. It has a slight bitter taste like a pale ale but very small. The spices are very evident but blended nicely. Another great beer from Sam Adams.
