I was surprised by this one. I usually donít like the diacetyls in wheats, the buttery taste just doesnít go down right, but this one keeps that to a minimum with enough spicy complexity to make this a really interesting beer.

Old rating. Bottle from 2006. Lots of spice, pepper and wheat on the nose. Very spice forward and peppery on the palate. A bit of citrus as well. Not bad.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was foggy, slightly golden colored body with a thin white head that only lasted about a couple seconds. The smell had some hops, lemon, orange, tangerine combined in an earthy sort of way. The taste was bittersweet through citrus and hops. The palate was about a medium, slightly sessionable, citrusy aftertaste, sticky finish. Overall, good for a witbier, uh . . . only decent to me, unsure if Iíd come back to ....?

On tap at the brewery tour, as Nitro Wit. Itís a hazy, pale golden beer with a dense white head. The aroma is of the fruity kind, with some banana and spiced notes. Itís medium bodied, quite carbonated and dry. Banana, lemon, spices and pale malts in the flavor, some bitterness. Lasting finish. A decent beer indeed, but rather standard. 150608

Reviewed from notes: used to drink a ton of this when it was a spring seasonal. Pours a very hazy golden rod with white head. Spices, coriander, light fruit, wheat, and clove on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied and chewy.

"a little more americanized than some other wits...not necessarily a bad thing, as it stands out a little from the crowd. refreshing citrus, but nothing spectacular."
