As crisp as the first snowfall of the year, this unfiltered white ale is blended with holiday spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, & orange peel. The familiar citrus and wheat characters of the ale are complimented by the warmth of the spices for a festive brew that’s perfect for the season.

Appearance: cloudy orangey gold with one finger of bright white head shrinking to a creamy cap, with generous lace curtains. Aroma: typical witbier aroma, but with the clear addition of cinnamon, nutmeg, and candied fruit. Taste: candied citrus and pineapple, toasted coriander, vanilla custard, cinnamon, hint of mulled wine. Finish: lingering creamy sweetness, big winter spices. Notes: Ugh. Wanted to like this, because I think their Cold Snap wit with plums is actually good. The "winter" spices and flavors were just too strong, and they warred unpleasantly with the witbier base, which could no longer be refreshing. Bottle from Village Beer & Fine Wine, Rockville.

Rated on 10-31-2013 (Bottle from Kroger’s Marketplace-Fort Wayne, IN) This beer pours a huge smooth off-white head that mostly diminishes, hazy pale yellow body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and a good amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is wheat, malt, orange peel, citrus, sweet, and a suggestion of spice. The flavor is sweet, wheat, malt, orange peel, and lightly spicy. The mouthfeel is watery and thin and this beer is light-medium bodied. This is a very watery and thin tasting beer. It has very little character and is bland tasting.

Bottle at home. Pour is clear orange with a big white head and great lacing. Orange peels, some nutmeg, Belgian yeasty, some doughy, and grassy aroma. Taste is yeasty, some clove, nutmeg, lightly fruity, some citrus, and bread notes, though not particularly flavorful. Thin mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Could use a little more punch but not bad.

Clear orangish pour. Strange for a witbier. Nose is orange and nutmeg. Same flavor. Body is overly full. A little tart. Kind of exactly what you’d expect. Witbier with nutmeg. Weird and unnecessary, but tolerable.

Tastes like a spiced chrismas cookie with hints of citrus and malts. A good holiday ale.

This beer pours an extremely hazy golden color with a lot of floating sediment. It was heavily carbonated with a thick white head. The aroma is citrus, orange, and also some cinnamon. The taste is citrus, orange, somewhat bitter, slight cinnamon and spices, and very dry.

Bottled. Pours a hazy golden orange with a big white sticky head. Aroma is wheat, vanilla, definitely a cream soda, orange, not bad. Flavor is a bit of a let down compared to the aroma. Sort of generic cream ale type of flavor, some mild citrus, very light on hops, clight body. Medium heavy carbonation. Not bad. Solid for a Xmas beer. Aroma is the best aspect here.

Slightly hazy medium gold with a thin white head. A bit of wheat malt in the aroma with some light spices. Spices come out a bit on the sip along with a very light lemony flavor. Good wheat and malt mix and the wheat gives it a nice body. Finishes slightly sweet in a bit watery. Nice winter / Christmas ale.

Nicely spiced. Not much funk. Small wheat presence. I think I like Old Fezziwig better.

Bottle: Cloudy orange-amber body with an off-white head that fizzles away quickly. Heavy orange peel, coriander, cinnamon, & nutmeg in the aroma. Modestly spicy yeast. Flavor is more Belgian wit than the nose would indicate. Lots of straw, spicy & bready yeast, wheat, orange zest, coriander, & hints of clove. The cinnamon & nutmeg are present towards the finish, but lighter. A touch metallic. Meh, not terrible.
