As crisp as the first snowfall of the year, this unfiltered white ale is blended with holiday spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, & orange peel. The familiar citrus and wheat characters of the ale are complimented by the warmth of the spices for a festive brew that’s perfect for the season.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2013 12oz bottle to hoegaarden tumbler. Pours cloudy gold with a white foamy head. Doesnt look very carbonated. Nose is cinnamon spices, with a light hint of nutmeg (just a bad combination in my opinion, with the orange peel and wheat). Has an egg nog creamy like taste and texture on the palate with some fizzing. It is sweet > bitter. Overall it is something different, which i like, but im personally not a fan. But no off flavors or anything wrong with the beer itself.

Cloudy yellow color , medium white head. Wheat , orange and spices in aroma. Wheat malt and cinnamon dominates in sweet taste. Decent seasonal.

Bottle pour. Cloudy golden with small white head. Wheat, orange, and spices aroma. Medium body. Taste is similar to the aroma, but you are able to taste the cinnamon more than you can smell it.

Bottle. Smells decent but average in all ways. Tastes kinda generic. Yes it is Christmas style. Not bad but not great.

Pours a light golden color with a nice white head. Spice aroma with a bit of toasted malts. Flavor matches.

Source: Winter Sampler. 12 oz bottle poured into a Samuel Adams glass Appearance: The pour is a cloudy gold-orange, with a off-white head that disappears quickly Aroma: Wheat, citrus orange and lemon, spices like cinnamon, nutmeg & clove Flavor: Much like the aroma, lots of cinnamon & nutmeg you get the citrus of lemon/orange ends with wheat and the spices linger. Palate: The body is light-medium, good carbonation, the spices seem to linger not a clean finish. Overall Impression: Not awful, the aroma is very enjoyable very Christmas like. The same spices that help the aroma seems to over power the flavor a bit. I could enjoy 1 or 2 on a cold night. Worth a try!

12oz bottle - Pretty much the throw-away/drain-pour of the Winter Variety 12-pack, successfully replacing the Cranberry Lambic as perhaps SA’s worst beer. No, I don’t think it deserves that label, but this was pretty bad. Wet leaves/woody hop in the aroma, some orange, light ginger/citrus too. Flavor had a bit of spicy character, crackery but after it gets to room temp it really reminds me of vomit or that aftertaste in the mouth after upchucking. No thanks.

"I dig the spices used here for a holiday ale, but question the use of them in a witbier. Especially the nutmeg seems to beg for a bigger more robust base beer. I don’t dislike it, but it’s a definite step down from the coffee stout it’s replaced."
