3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Lemon lime and coriander nose. Hazy golden, medium head. Fizzy . Stale malt and unmalted barley flavor, wheat bread crust, lemon, coriander. Spicier and fruitier than Shock Top, maltier than Blue Moon, eerily similar quality though. I have defended Boston Beer’s craft brewery status for years against those who suggest they should no longer be considered craft. Despite it’s size, Boston Beer has continued to make quality beer in a variety of interesting styles. This beer, however, makes me at least consider if they haven’t sold out.

From a bottle smells a little soapy. Taste is spiced white beer, but not over the top. Not bad I guess. Yes, a little more spicey than yer typical white beer. Finish has a tad of that mild ale bitteness on the back of the throat.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Part of the 2013 Spring Thaw Variety Pack - $12.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours out a hazy, darkish golden body with a smallish, receding, white head.
Smell: Bright, cheery orangey citrus note atop the wheat malt and redolent spice mix.
Taste: Malted wheat with a touch of breadiness and sugared sweetness. Spritzy citrus character as the carbonation crackles across the tongue, fast followed by the spices, the Grains of Paradise with its characteristic peppery bite. Very minor hop character, bitterness, letting the citrus additions and spices take on that role.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: Minus the GoP, it’s not particularly distinguishable from a Blue Moon, and, after Summer and Coastal Wheat, I’m really not sure they needed another light, wheat-based, Grains of Paradise-dosed anything.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
"Spring Thaw" mix pack 12 oz. bottle. My Sam Adams perfect pint glass shows a hazy gold with thin white lasting head. Smell is citrus and spicy wheat. The taste is fruity, lots of orange peel, lemons, and thin bread malt. Really to me it takes like a Sam Summer with spices added. Flavor really is nearly identical. Well, I applaud Mr. Koch for smart marketing strategy. This and a few others (Maple Pecan Porter and Double Agent IPL) are only offered in the Spring Thaw pack.

Rated on 11-04-2013 (Bottle) This beer pours a large white head that mostly diminished, hazy pale yellow body, fast rising carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The Aroma is wheat malt, orange, semi-sweet, spicy, and coriander. The Taste is sweet, orange, wheat malt, tangy, and lightly spicy. The Palate is smooth and this is a light bodied beer. Overall, this is a refreshing beer and can be considered a session beer. A beer I would consider drinking again.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
The aroma is like dirty dish water with pale malt, some citrus and spice, and strange yeast. The appearance is hazy gold with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. I am not really a fan it has some interesting qualities but it smells off and just isn’t yummy.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Very similar to all the other seasonal witbiers from SA in the past… It pours a nice semi clear golden color with a shrinking white head. The aroma jumps out with ginger, tangerine, orange peel and wheat. The flavor has more tangerine, wheat and citrus peel, but too heavy and sweet to be really exciting. Not a bad beer by any means, but it needs to be dryer and lighter to showcase the subtleties.
