(bottle) hazy gold with white head. Pine hops aroma. Flavor is pine, some citrus and apricot. Doesn’t quite come together for me.

Hazy yellow-gold with a small white head. Aroma is rather simple floral hops with a peach and apricots. Taste is sweet quickly followed by a stinging bitterness. I would venture to say that White Ales and IPAs should not be mixed. Hoppy apricots?
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Alextricity (177) - Chesterfield Twp., Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2013
Poured into a Samuel Adams pint glass.
I got this in the Sam Adams Hop-ology pack, and this beer is one that I just really do NOT like. If it weren’t so bitter, I would give it a slightly higher rating, but with such a strong bitter aftertaste, I can’t give this beer a high rating. It has a nice, hazy appearance, and to me, that’s one of its highlights.
The beer smells like spring to me -- a light, hoppy, grapefruit (Sam Adams says it’s apricots) aroma. Whitewater IPA also has a slightly above average light-medium body mouthfeel.
The big problem I have, as I said, is the over-bitterness. The beer wouldn’t taste that great regardless, but adding bitterness to a brew that tastes like apricots and pine tar isn’t very appealing to me. I normally love Sam Adams, but this gets a THUMBS DOWN from me.

Good solid tasting IPA. To the grapefruit side of the grapefruit to pine IPA spectrum. ABV a little lower than the average IPA, but you wouldn’t guess it from the taste. The wheat and spices and apricots and such are overpowered by the hops, extremely subtle, but I’m in it for hops, so that doesn’t bother me. :) What you are looking for out of this beer will likely dictate how you view it. As an IPA, not bad. As a wheat fruit beer... Wait, there’s wheat and fruit in here?

Bottle. Not sure if this would generally be considered a session beer, but although it is not a mind-blowing IPA, I feel like I could drink a case of this at a day-long BBQ.

This is a decent ipa but not the best it has a nice aroma with a slight happy kick to top it off

From tasting notes. Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a medium, white head. Moderately sweet aroma of light pine and citrus. Moderately sweet flavor of light pine and citrus hops, light spice and a hint of the apricot. Light finish.

The first thing you notice from Whitewater is its deep bongwater/resin/grapefruit aroma. The Chinook hops are very bright here, overtaking the rest of the beer. The delicate wheat malt is underpowered to stand up to the hop character. Very dry and somewhat astringent. It is pretty though, pouring a pale cloudy yellow with a thick sticky head.

I was a bit disappointed in this beer. Rather than being the best of both worlds I thought it was a bit muddled and came off mediocre in both respects. Yes it has some characteristics of a white beer but the bitterness does not match the west coast IPAs I’m used to and there is no toasty/wheaty flavor. You can taste the spice and orange peel, but I couldn’t detect the apricots. Light, cloudy appearance with plenty of foam.
