3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 ounce bottle, best before May 2014. A friend gave a bottle of this to me the other day, so we’ll see how this is. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a cloudy golden/orange color with an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like citrusy (orange, grapefruit) and pine hops, apricots, and some bready malt. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s also a bit of peppery spice noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. I think it’s a decent enough IPA. I wouldn’t turn one down, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find some, either. Still, I think it’s worth trying if you’ve never had it before.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Dried fruit with hints of pine and citrus hops.
Appearance: Cloudy straw color with a rocky head.
Taste: Light sourness with medium bitterness. Hints of sweetness at the edges.
Palate: Medium body, average carbonation, long finish
Overall: It’s decent, drinkable, but certainly not mind blowing. Tastes like a fruity IPA, and the wheat elements aren’t as apparent as I’d have liked.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is apricot and light citrus. Appearance is hazy light copper with medium off white head that retains for some time. Taste is citrus flavor hopping with some apricot fruitiness blending well with light caramel sweetness. Hop bitterness is smooth and crisp. In balance with the malt. Palate is medium +. A bit fuller than you would find with most IPA’s especial one this small. Overall really more of a malty pale ale than an IPA, but still nice and drinkable.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Relatively good for an IPA. The subtle citrus had me thinking grapefruit when I could taste it beyond the intense hop flavor.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Great beer, but ask hoppy it overpowers the subtle Belgian segue and citrus notes. It ends up being a thin-bodied IPA experience. Good, not great. It’s a Chainbreaker wannabe.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden/bright orange, foamy white head, nice lacing. Nose is piney hops, some citrus, a touch of apricot. Taste is piney hops, spices, stone fruit, lasting bittering hops. Sticky oily mouthfeel. Would be much better without the spices.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz Bottle drank on 14th March 2014 in a garden, Newport Beach. Hazy yellow/orange mixture to the colour, with a full white crown on top. Citrus notes rule the nose and taste, hoppy and fairly bitter, those added apricots try to take the edge away and just about succeed. Not as harsh as the local (Californian) IPA’s I came across while in the states.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a cloudy gold color with white head. Pine and citrus on the nose with a hint of wheat and light fruit; follows onto the palate. Fairly straight forward for what it is. Finishes with a slightly sweet note.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle. Golden with small head. Fairly mild as an IPA goes. Hops are crisp with a light bitterness. Would be a good beer to introduce someone to the style, but it’s not going to blow away any hopheads.
