COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

Bottle and drank in a no-nik pint glass, Very slightly hazy golden hue with a good head and lace. The aroma is an OMG moment! This smells oh so close to my homebrew Wheat IPA right down to the spices and choice of hops. There is no doubt that this has Grains of Paradise and wheat along with the base malt. I would not be shocked to learn that the hops used were Citra, Sorachi and Simcoe just like mine. The only difference is the apricot versus lemon zest fruit choices.

Even the flavor profiles are similar as this is hop forward but you can tell there is wheat in the brew. Nice that the SA IPA is missing the "rind" character that my homebrew has. Love the spicy finish and the piney bitters. The mouth feel is slick and a tad oily, not as clean as you normally find in an IPA but methinks the wheat is the reason why. Overall, much to like about this beer but the spiciness got too be too much the last half of bottle... yep, just like my homebrew!

Quite possibly the most refreshing IPA ever. The subtleties of the white ale come through while the citrus and hops of the IPA are evident. Highly recommend.

Poured a hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. Aroma has lots of citrus and peach. Taste has lots of citrus with oranges, peaches, and apricots. Quite hoppy but not too bitter. Some good sweet malty flavors with some nice yeast in the finish. Finish is mostly sweet with more peaches. Maybe too many peaches, but overall quite tasty.

Samuel Adams Whitewater IPA has a very thick, fluffy, slightly off-white head and a hazy, pulpy, bubbly, orange appearance, with lots of heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of piney hops, apricot juice, citrus, and bread. Taste is similar- fruit juice, hops, white bread, sweetness, and menthol bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Samuel Adams Whitewater IPA finishes semi-dry, satisfying, and easy drinking. Overall, I thinks it’s very good. RJT

12 oz. bottle. Pours a pale orange color with a stick, small white head. Aroma of herbal hops, tea, some bright leafiness. Mild wit spice, sweet pale malt. Strong citrus and mango overtones. Flavor is mild, sweet and fruity, mild spice like a wit. There are citrus, mango, fruity overtones paired with leafy and earthy hops. Light bodied, spritz carbonation. Very summery. I wouldn’t necessarily consider this anywhere near a favorite, but this is a fine beer for what it is. Interesting new style.

Was really looking forward to trying this beer. I was intrigued by a wit/IPA hybrid. This is def an IPA but not much wit. Cloudy amber, slight aroma(although its allergy season), flavor is nice blend of bitter hop and acidic tartness(apricots); finsihes long and dry+hoppy. Feels rich and fizzy grabbing every tastebud and slapping it around.

A really nice effort at a White IPA. Pours a hazed golden color with a medium sized white head. Smell begins with hops, wheat, and some sweet fruit. Flavor is apricot, orange peel with some bitterness, pine and citrus. A wheat beer mixed with a white all added with some nice hop bitterness makes this a pretty solid brew.

Bottle as part of a mixed 12 pack. Pour has a slightly hazed golden amber color with a thin covering of white head. Aroma starts with hops, light citrus, wheat, and some sweetness. Mouth feel is light and there is average carbonation. Flavor brings out a little more apricot, some bitterness, pine, dry citrus, and a long finish. There definitely is a wheat beer in here competing with the hops and the touch of apricot goes well all in all.

Appearance: deep coppers and garnet under an off-white head which fades bumpy with sticky clumps of lace clinging to the sides of my glass. Swirls clumpy.
Nose: melba toast and apple skins. A generic caramelized sweetness of caramel and toffee. Solid platform of sweet crunchy caramelized malt. Dryness in the back of straw bales.
Palate:</b. medium-light slightly mouth-coating body. Generic caramelized sweetness atop toasted bread and apple skins. Bubbly caramel finish. Generic brown spices along the edges.
Final Thoughts: certainly not the most complex or flavorful Irish Red I have savored so far, but it didn’t suck either. The typical Samuel Adams house yeast character was there but only minutely in the background. A good session and a good introduction for those looking for a little something more in their beer without scaring them away.
