COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2013 Light orange in color, almost no head. Cloudy. Sweet smell in the aroma and some floral hops. I can pick out apricots and lemons for sure. Taste is lots of apricots with some other odd spices. Not a big fan of this one.

Pours a hazy bright gold, with a rocky white head. Aggressive aroma that is highlighted by pine, sticky citrus - particularly lime and tangerine, apricot, and dank fresh hops. The flavor is bright, citrusy, slightly spicy, and very fruity, with the token grapefruit, but also a good deal of passionfruit and green mango. The finish is astringently bitter, but very fresh and fruity. An excellent offering from Sam Adams.

12oz bottle from Binny’s, Plainfield. Pours a cloudy, golden-yellow colored body with a finger-width, dense and foamy, mostly white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a solid lacing. Aroma has a nice mix of floral oranges and bitter grapefruits up front with some pines and a light apricot sweetness behind the hops. A touch of grass and pepper with a somewhat bready and crackery pale malt backing. Flavor is similar. More of a bitter tangerine up front with a slight apricot sweetness. Some grass and florals in the middle with a touch of white pepper and a light wheat alongside a slightly crackery, bready pale maltiness. Apricots pick it up towards the end as well as some estery citruses and pepper as this finishes dry and moderately bitter from a mix of grass, pines, and florals as well as a slightly sharp citrus character. Lengthy aftertaste following a light-medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an interesting beer. A good amount of citrus pines, grass, and florals with a light apricot sweetness balanced well with a light wheat and pale, crackery malt backing. Fairly bitter, pretty easy drinking, and enjoyable. Not bad.

12 oz. bottle poured to my SA Lager glass with a cloudy, particulate laden, orange/gold, apricot juice appearance, persistent, moussy, off white head, and good cling to the streaks, waves & spots of lacing. The aroma was fresh cones and pine, secondary citrus, a touch of mid-fruit sweetness, a bit of grain, but also a light metallic hint. The flavor added a pronounced, earthy, rind-like hop bitterness that lingered, decent malt content, medium body, and not necessarily lively, but good carbonation. Floaties from dry hopping or spice and fruit additions? A decent IPA with a few questionable notes.

Bottle. Hazy, deep golden body. Frothy, off-white head. Aroma of pine, resin, leafy hops, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Slight tartness. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation. Resiny, raw hop flavor overtakes the citrus. A bit unclean. The aroma delivers more than the flavor.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, caramel, citrus, hops, light apricot, and some grain. Poured amber/orange in color with a small, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy and hazy. Many small, and a few large-sized particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, citrus, grain, apricot, and a hint of caramel. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt, grain, hop, citrus finish is lightly dry.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2014 Nose is lemony hops, apricots, and light bready malt. Taste begins with citrusy hops, which is followed by notes of apricots, spice, and malt. Finish is long and dry. Mouthfeel is dense and sticky with light carbonation. Overall a nicely balanced beer.

A hazy orange amber with a good medium lasting beige head, with good lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt citrus, light yeast, piney hops, grapefruit with some apricot notes fill the senses. Taste is of fruity citrusy notes, some light yeast, followed by some citrusy piney hops, grapefruit and some apricot flavors. A nice medium body with good carbonation and crisp mouth feel on the palate. Finishes with a sweet biscuit malt, fruity citrus and apricot flavors, some light yeast, ending with some good slightly spicy citrusy piney hops for balance. Overall a well done, tasty and nicely balanced IPA.

This was delicious. Better than the satanic variation that was also just released. Aggressive hopping and clean profile with a touch of sweet apricot makes it enjoyable and drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
