12 oz bottle.
Medium body with moderate hops bite.
Hazy yellow orange with a small white head. Wit yeast, bread, banana, some pine and very subdued apricot in the aroma. carbonation.
I am not loving this beer.
It is not bad, but I have had quite a few better IPA’s than this in the past 12 months.

Seriously... this is the most complex beer that I have had from Sam Adams.
SA pioneered American craft beer, and then their innovative spirit waned for years. They turned out truckloads of drinkable beer, but failed to take chances for the demanding craft beer market. $10 and $12+ 6paks of obscure "rare" beers kept us obsessed with beer for a while. Here we are in 2012 and it seems that SA loves that there is a market for complex recipes. I picked this 6 pack up for $8 and was blown away at first sip.
There is Belgian-inspired black pepper, bread dough, buttery sweetness, and dryness. There is a strong hop IPA bitterness to the finish of every sip. Pine sap dominates with a hint of citrus. Is the citrus from the hops, the added apricot, or both? Looks like I have to open a second one and do some more research.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy orange. Bitter grassiness, with a tropical apricot after taste. Bitterness lingers too long. Sort of a makeshift Nelson Sauvin thing going on but the finish is too damn bitter. Interesting.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy amber appearance with a large, off white head and very good lacing. Citrus and soft fruit co-mingle in the aroma. Wheat takes an edge off the more intense hops, leaving a milder, more floral hoppiness. Almost like an English Pale Ale. A bit more tartness and bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz into a pint. Head is large and frothy, holding on strong through most ot the brew. aroma is sweet, citrus, hoppy, and piney. Taste is sweet apricot in the end, hops up front yet mild for an ipa, which is very fitting for this excellent brew. Its an enjoyable drinker with the wheat flare, the ipa consistency and the apricot finish. Definately a session drinker for the type. Color is an awesome array of orange and gold as the tow mix interchangeablly as thebeer sits. Glad I pick up a six pack.

Quality Control Bottle. Poured hazy pale color with a large frothy white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus hop and fruit aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate smooth bittersweet flavor with a moderate bitter acidic finish of medium duration. This a complex brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Super hazy bright orange-tan with a big, foamy head. Really succeeds at what they were going for: the Wit/IPA hybrid ale. Yeasty spiced vanilla tones, as well as an orange citrus hop tone, a little lackluster in typical SA fashion. Fresh and zesty, highly sessionable. Apricot flavors are pretty steady, and come out more and more as the beer warms. I like this one.
