COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from the Giant in Leesburg. It pours a cloudy light orange with a one-finger head of meringue like foam. The nose has intense pine and herbal hop notes up front. The flavor leans towards the catty and herbal side with a touch of tropical and pine. True to style, this brew is all about the hops. Fairly light on the tongue with average carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Nicely done.

12 oz bottle from a variety pack. Pours hazy golden-orange with a long lasting, foamy, white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops followed by apricots and caramel malt. Body is medium and tangy. Spicy, citrusy hops dominate the flavor with apricots, orange fruit and malt in the background. Finish is long, dry dominated by grapefruit. I like a lot of hops in this Wit.

Out of the new 2012 collection, I liked this one the best. It had a really nice floral aroma, nice crip hop / citrus bite. Some sweet , dry notes on the finish. Really good.

Probably one of my favorite IPAs that Iíve had, itís obviously an IPA in the taste of pine and hops but itís not overwhelmingly so like Ska Modus Hoperandi in my opinion. I find the apricots most present in the aroma but there is a bit in the taste as well. Goes down smooth and a little dry. One of the most exciting and different brews Iíve had from Sam Adams, itís recommended. Iíd drink this anytime.

Bottle. Pours out a cloudy orange color with plenty of hops in the aroma. Grasss, hay, grapefruit and other citrus elements are present. Taste is sweet and smooth. Pretty refreshing and easy to drink. Interesting beer that i would drink anytime.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 2/22/12

Aroma: This one has a fresh, citrus fruit nose, with some spice, some resin notes, and yeast
Appearance: The pour is a cloudy golden-orange color with a lasting foamy white head and good lacing
Flavor: Has less citrus and more spice then the nose, itís light sweet, with a medium-heavy hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a fairly clean feel, some smoothness too, and a rather dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a new one from Sam Adams, at least itís the first time Iíve seen it. This one actually looks just like youíd expect a Wheat Ale to look, but it smells just like youíd expect an IPA to smell. I thought this was a pretty good and rather interesting offering.

Very mild aroma, with just a touch of hops. Pours a cloudy, orange-amber, with a nice white head. Very interesting flavor... the apricot comes across at the beginning, and blends with some pine hops, then comes back in the end of the finish. I would probably classify this more in the fruit beer realm, with the lingering flavor of apricots. Overall, this is an interesting beer, and one of the better ones with apricot that Iíve tried.

Bottle via SL. Hazy orange in color, one finger sized head. Nose is musty, spices, oranges. Taste is spices and oranges... Hoppy but not bitter... a little piney notes. Not quite IPA but not quite a white ale.. Kind of like it... medium-light body.... more carbonation than an IPA. Overall unique brew, that I wouldnt mind drinking a sixer off..

Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a couple inches of frothy head. Not getting a ton of aroma, perhaps a bit of floral hops and fruitiness. Taste like a standard IPA with a bit of spice - however I donít get much apricot. A solid bitterness balances the minimal sweetness.. definitely not for hop heads, but a good interpretation of the style. Fairly carbonated with a light/medium body that finishes crisply. A solid, drinkable IPA.

Picked this up as a single bottle for only $2. Poured into a Duvel Glass. Bottles says best by August, 2012.

A - 8-Finger head after a vigorous pour. The Bubbles were extremely tight and very creamy. The brew itself is a light leather look with some clouds moving around slowly.

S - Iím getting some mild hops, not much. The Apricots certainly are easy to spot. Birch syrup and apples are in here as well.

T - Hmmm, Yeah, the apricots and spices are the most pronounced. The spices is like cloves and pepper. Itís spicy yet very pleasant. The hop profile is pretty weak and disappointing. Itís not a great IPA by any standard.

M - Solid mouthfeel. about 80% bubbles after a single swish, Goes down easy and is very light and drinkable. The aftertaste is fruity.

O - Itís not a bad beer. $10 for a six pack is certainly too much to pay though.
