COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Color was hazy caramel orange. Just under a finger of head from my pour. Kind of light on the lacing on the top, some sporadic whiteness. Some light film on the sides, a bit spotty with some bubbles. A lot more citrusy in the notes than I would have expected with Sam Adams. Seemed to be lemon more than anything else on the citrus side. Light pine as well. Tasted pretty similar to the nose. More grapefruit than lemon on the citrus side, but surprisingly noticeable. A bit balanced, though, and not too bitter, although you can taste it. Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, slightly bitter finish. This was better than I was expecting. The sharp citrus notes really stand out.

Draft @ Holy Grail, Epping, NH. Pale urine color in a standard pint glass. Very minimal head or lace. Nose is weak hops, citrus fruit and generic spice. Taste has fruity notes. Wheat base is obvious but I had no idea what to expect here and the bartender didnít help telling me what this was. It really seems to be all over the place with flavors. A hoppy white ale, a standard IPA, a hybridÖ it really doesnít impress me with any definition.

12 oz bottle. pours a hazy orange with a small white head. soft apricot nose with light malts - not picking up any hops. med body - crisp & smooth - citrus / pine bitterness - apricots and spice. big bitter dry finish with light apricots. very interesting blend of two styles - it works well.

Nice cloudy apricot pour with a white head. Great pine and resin aroma. Complex flavor, a mix of citrus, pine with spice and yeast. This is a great ipa and one of the better offerings from Sam Adams

Smells sweet, hoppy, bitter, slight taste of apricot, has a bit of a our quality to it. Different take on an IPA, not elite, but decent, worth a try. Canít say Iíve had anything like it before.

From the 120z bottle as part of the Brewerís Choice sampler case. Lots of things to like in this IPA, especially the subtle use of apricots which usually is overdone by other brewers. Not overboard on sweetness or hopping, just right in all cases.

Bottle. The pour was a cloudy golden yellow with a large (2-3 finger) white frothy head that lasted throughout and produced excellent sheeting of sticky lacing. The aroma was nice and hoppy of citrus hops, grain malts and a soapy yeast with notes of grapefruit, caramel and a bit of spice. The taste was lightly bitter with a decent note of caramel early on and then became good and hoppy with an awesome bitter citrus flavor and a nice dose of spice at the end. The flavor lingered for a nice long time allowing for full enjoyment of the hoppy citrus brew. Mouthfeel was light in body with a slightly dry texture and a lively carbonation. Overall a tasty and refreshing IPA with a nice spicy finish, in fact I think I will have another...

Cloudy orange amber with a billowy head and very nice lace. Modest citrus and grassy hops, apricot and wheat aromas. Distinct bitter earthy hops and wheat malt tastes, with hints of spice and bread. Medium body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, ticklish carbonation, and a bitter finish.

Pours a hazed pale apricot color with a solid lasting head. Smells of citrus pulp and mildly spiced. Full nectar with good carbonation. A bitter brew with a fat malt backbone. Itís actually unenjoyable with all this grapefruit rind. Very dry. Iím not sure why they even call this an IPA as itís only 5.8% abv.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from the Giant in Leesburg. It pours a cloudy light orange with a one-finger head of meringue like foam. The nose has intense pine and herbal hop notes up front. The flavor leans towards the catty and herbal side with a touch of tropical and pine. True to style, this brew is all about the hops. Fairly light on the tongue with average carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Nicely done.
