Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a couple inches of frothy head. Not getting a ton of aroma, perhaps a bit of floral hops and fruitiness. Taste like a standard IPA with a bit of spice - however I donít get much apricot. A solid bitterness balances the minimal sweetness.. definitely not for hop heads, but a good interpretation of the style. Fairly carbonated with a light/medium body that finishes crisply. A solid, drinkable IPA.

Picked this up as a single bottle for only $2. Poured into a Duvel Glass. Bottles says best by August, 2012.

A - 8-Finger head after a vigorous pour. The Bubbles were extremely tight and very creamy. The brew itself is a light leather look with some clouds moving around slowly.

S - Iím getting some mild hops, not much. The Apricots certainly are easy to spot. Birch syrup and apples are in here as well.

T - Hmmm, Yeah, the apricots and spices are the most pronounced. The spices is like cloves and pepper. Itís spicy yet very pleasant. The hop profile is pretty weak and disappointing. Itís not a great IPA by any standard.

M - Solid mouthfeel. about 80% bubbles after a single swish, Goes down easy and is very light and drinkable. The aftertaste is fruity.

O - Itís not a bad beer. $10 for a six pack is certainly too much to pay though.

Pours a cloudy pale light yellow, creamy head, nice lacing.Solid carbonation. Aroma is really nice, hoppy with fruit tones less of floral and some sweet candiedness, subtle breadiness. After realizing this was a wheat beer with fruit and spices i wasnt lookng forward to this but this is a good wheat ipa. Its citrus at the start with creamy carbonationt then some citrus hops with a solid tartness with a nice hop flavor and bittering, with a light sweet somewhat almost bready malt backbone and lingering grapefruit orange rind, clean but pretty tart rind finish pretty nice though

Bottle. Cloudy orange-amber with a decent lasting white head. Aroma of yeast and strong citrus. Great flavour like I have been drinking it all my life. You can taste the wheat, tha apricot is restrained and the hops are strong and in check like an aggressive pilsner.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of mandarin oranges, malted wheat, citrus and a little clove. Hazy orange hue with a small white head that left ok lace. Flavor is medium sweet and bitter. Palate is medium bodied and oily with average carbonation. Overall a nice brew that drinks well and is enjoyable. I could drink this all night with some hot wings. A good one.

An interesting combination of a white and an ipa, but Sam needs to do a better job of explaining that to the drinker, most people think that this is a true ipa, which itís not. All the tastes described on the label, but I tasted an almost gose-like saltiness.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2012 Draft at World of Beer in Land O Lakes. If you try this beer expecting a "true" IPA I can see how you would be disappointed, but if you try this beer expecting a hopped up white wheat I think youíll enjoy it. Cloudy golden orange color with a dense foamy white head. Very nice lacing along the glass. Fair amount of hop bitterness in the finish. Some sweetness from the apricots up front with a good amount of citrus pith. Overall pretty decent offering from Sam Adams.

It smells like an IPA, but has no little hop taste. There is a hint of cirus, but then there is appricott and nutmeg(hard to palce the spice). I think this was a beer that Sam Adams brewery tried to make a catch all to please everyone and has come up a bit short everywhere. It does have a great orange hazy color, no lace, no head.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours with a huge two finger billowy head and a hazy light gold body. Great head retention. Smells quite citrusy with the apricots being quite prominent. Also some orange and pineapple with a touch of pine. Flavor is quite citrusy as well and sweet. Apricot once again and orange. The pine is not quite as noticeable. Not as much bitterness as I was expecting but it is noticeable and provides a nice drying finish. The mouthfeel, however is quite watery. Overall Iím torn on this beer. The flavor is wonderful with the citrus but body is severely lacking. Itís almost like drinking hopped fruit juice. Iíd revisit it, though.
