Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

Bottle. Pours a thick, cloudy cheddar orange with a thick white head. Nose is lemony rose soaked in orange peel juice. Flavor is peachy lemon leaves and grapefruit rind. Leaves a lingering, slowly fading flavor on the tongue. Oily on the palate. This is a fantastic IPA. Very different; instead of an all-out hops assault, it’s more of a lemony puch-in-the-gut by a small child. Very clean and refreshing. Definite repeat.

Thanks to Ed for sharing a bottle of this with me at his engagement party. Pours a rather cloudy orangy/amber color with a moderate foamy head. Aroma is of pine, some citrus, light apricot, and some wheat malt. Taste is rather well balanced, pine and citrus hops meld with apricot and the typical spicy backbone found in wheat beers. An interesting twist on the style.

12 oz. bottle - Pours a hazy golden color with a two finger thick off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is floral, pine, and citrus. Flavor is much of the same, but the apricot is a little more noticeable. Medium body. A pretty good beer.

Pours hazy gold, with nice sized fluffy white head. Aroma is floral hops with a little bit of the apricot its brewed wit and some citrus. Very great smelling beer. First thing I noticed was the texture, its very smooth and creamy, little thicker and more yeasty than I expected. Immediately its very sharp and bitter, but it gives way to a sweetness. Lots of spicy yeast falvors, citrus, and coriander. Hops are pine and citrus. Very bitter ont he front end, ends with a smooth sweetness. Very interesting style, never had a white IPA before this one and the added hops really make white’s way better.

Pours a cloudy golden with a nice full white head, like a hefeweizen. Has a mild aroma of grapefruit peel. Taste is clean and crisp, with a smooth sweet malt character and a moderate amount of pine and citrus hop bitterness. I thought this is just right, well balanced and refreshing.

Haven’t rated in a while, but felt compelled to do so because I was so surprised by this one. Pours a hazy straw yellow with a slight orange hue and a thick white head. Aroma slaps you in the face with citrus hops, pine, orange peel, sweet tart fruits (mostly orange, lemon, grapefruit, and apricot), and then finishes with a nice bitterness. Mouthfeel is mostly dry to slightly slick. What a great surprise.

On tap at Papago pouring up hazy deep gold with pale copper hues and near bright white head leaving behind a nice sheet of lacing. The aroma offers up citrus flavored cotton candy in the form of grapefruit and orange peel. The taste has thick citrus hop notes like grapefruit, tangelo and almost a lime like quality. It quickly ramps up into yummy resiny hop bitterness to midway. Around the edges of the citrus hops and an almost pine resiny like bitterness are mild notes of floral hops, grainy maltiness and malt sweetness. Darn tasty IPA. I dig it.

Pours hazy pale gold into a Sam glass. Off-white meringue head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet summer fruit, yeast and pine aromas. Crisp with sweet yeasty apricot and citrus upfront turning to resin before the lasting grapefruit finish.
