Sam Adams Whitewater IPA. A wheat ale brewed with apricots & spices.
This hazy brew combines the crisp character of a white ale with the intense pine and citrus flavors of an India Pale Ale. We took the unique combination to a new level with the sublet addition of apricots, which provide a slight sweetness to balance the bitterness of the hops. Cheers!

12 ounce bottle from Kroger Carytown Richmond. Is this a Magic Hat 9 clone? Weíll see. Pours a hazy peach color with a large pillowy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of dry citrus notes including lime and lemon. Some faint sweet malts in there as well. The taste is also a ton of citrus notes... lime, tangerine, lemon. Caramel malts as well. Medium bodied. Iím actually liking this quite a bit.

12 oz bottle: Nice floral hop aroma, pungent pine notes and citrus. Appearance is a cloudy golden with a white head that lingers. Taste has got a very hoppy but nicely smooth texture. Make this a short one. This is the best one out of the mix pack. Cheers!

Pours a hazy golden color with small white head. Aroma is predominantly hoppy, with floral and citrus notes. Strong bitter flavor. Light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and finish. Reminds me of Marble IPA, one of my favorites.

Tannish yellow and quite cloudy, nice 1.5 finger head lasted quite a while, leaving sheets of lace. Smell was obviously hoppy and piney, citrus, some grasses, fruits, and floral notes. Flavor follows but with high bitterness and powerful hops presence, pine and dried lemon rind, lightly fruity too. Body is medium and amply carbonated, with a fruity, bitter finish. Overall Iím quite impressed with this IPA from BBC. Although an overall fan of SA, normally their IPAs have been kinda mellow and not highly hopped. This one finally breaks that trend and comes out with lots of bitterness and a high hops profile, which is a great thing.

Bottle. Slightly hazy medium bronze body with a dense, slightly off white head. The nose has plenty of grapefruit and peanuts. There is also some hint of pears and black pepper. The taste is largely grapefruit rind, but there is also some sharp soap. A woody bark like finish is a little off putting. It smelled promising, but there is no malt balance to the brew.

Sampled on 1/27/2012. This IPA pours a slightly cloudy medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, citrusy, piney and floral. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, and there is a touch of apricot and tropical sweetness. The hops are citrusy, floral and grapefruity. A very intense IPA from Sam Adams. Nice balance. Good carbonation. A medium to highly bitter IPA. The bitterness tends to linger. A touch of yeast as well. I really like the dry finish on this beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, dry and crisp. Aftertaste is fairly bitter.

A hoppy wheat beer, really that is what this is. I am now going to make sure I have 75 characters or more. It is...a good...hoppy...wheat...beer.

12oz from the recent box, from the Kroger. Handsome, lustrous orange pour with a medium sticky head. Nose a bit too sweet, though there are some bittering hops detectable in there. Nice mouthfeel with a bit of a tickle from the carbonation, but a slightly syrupy finish. Itís a problematic beer in some respects because itís just hoppy enough to be a dissatisfying IPA but weirdly clashing as a wheat. Decent peppery and floral flavors in the finish but a disjointed beer overall.

Pairs a white ale with an IPA although the whilte ale wins over a bit. I wish it was less sweet but still a very solid beer and a cool version of an IPA.
