Poured reddish-brown in color with a big frothy light brown head that had excellent lacing. The aroma was of lightly toasted grainy malts, cloves, ginger and mild resin like hops with a medicine like odor. It taste bitter-sweet with an acidic finish that stayed with you a while. Mouthfeel was light to medium bodied with a creamy texture. Overall an decent brew. Loremonger (2), Missouri, USA does not count Nov 8, 2009 I’m not a big lager fan, but I love what Sam Adams does with lagers. They adjust the grain bill, they spice it, they manage to make it so that it’s NOT LIKE EVERY OTHER LAGER IN THE WORLD. This pours a nice dark cranberry color with a creamy head that holds on. Mouth feel is nice with a full body and soft carbonation. Good lager. Definitely something different. deyholla (508), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Nov 7, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark amber, almost brown with a medium white head. Aroma was full of roasted sweet wheat with some spice. Flavor is nice and smooth with a nice dark wheat flavor. JustinFromAL (114), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Nov 7, 2009 Pours a dark amber with a malty sweet nose. Some spice in their, but it’s masked. Sweet and smooth, the name fits. A tasty winter seasonal that makes me think of a nice wood fire. vacantskies (79), Spokane, Washington, USA Nov 6, 2009 This is a dark, copper lager. The flavor is sweet with a hint of spice. The aroma is sweet as well. halfonit (424), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Nov 6, 2009 Darker amber color with a thick head. Aroma consists of malts, wheat, and a little nutmeg. Taste is mainly the same. It’s a little sweeter than I expected. Has a sweetish nutmeg aftertaste. One of their better seasonal styles.
