Every year it’s a milestone to see the White Ale, Summer Ale, Oktoberfest, and Winter Lager come out. This one is my favorite of all of them - rich malty aroma, nice copper brown color and tan head. Taste has some nice light spices on top of the rich caramel malt flavor. Foxbush (454), Richmond, Virginia, USA

The lager was deep mahogany and clear. The flavor was of spices and roasted malts. It was medium body with a nice 1/2 inch while frothy head. This is a seasonal lager that i look forward to again. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Pours like a typical Sam Adams, rich amber color with nice tan head. A carmel/nutty aroma. Coffee like with a hint of spice. Was very good, but did not stand out much from a regular, Sam Adams. poisoneddwarf (163), Rathdrum, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2009 12 oz bottle. Smells of grain...cheese?? Pours a gorgeous reddish brown with a nice head, fantastic lacing. Malty taste; ginger and cinnamon. Full-bodied, nice aftertaste. Nice winter beer; much better than I remember it. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, brown colored body with an amber tinge. Finger-width, creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. I really like the color on this a lot. Aroma is moderately sweet caramels with some floral fruits and a touch of pepper. Flavor is quite enjoyable. A great balance between malt, fruit, hops, and spice. Starts with a moderately sweet caramel malt with a touch of brown sugar to it. A barely noticable smoke note comes in with a distinct, but subtle fruitiness. A nice blend of spices then comes in before this finishes with a moderate to light, floral bitterness. Dry after a smooth and medium body with a slightly creamy carbonation that lasts for a medium duration. Overall, a really nicely blended winter beer. Its sweet and rich, yet spicy and pleasantly bitter making this highly enjoyable. Very smooth and clean too. Nice beer. pkbites (324), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Lovely iced tea brown pour. Head is creamy for 2 seconds, then it runs for cover. Nose is of brown sugar and day old bakery. Tastes like cold coffee with cinnamon, caramel, and something else I can’t put my finger on.
Smells and looks good. ****NOW HEAR THIS, NOW HEAR THIS!!!!!*** I don’t like this at all. But you might! So give it a try yourself. My sense of taste may be different from yours. iamqueensblvd (191), , Iowa, USA
