Commercial Description:
Winter Lager is a weizenbock, a dark bock brewed with generous quantities of malted wheat, a style that is usually enjoyed as a warming drink from late fall through to spring.

On tap. Pours a dark, clear amber with a small tan head. No lacing. Aromas of brown sugar, molasses, spice. Taste is incredibly sweet with a watery mouthfeel. Not sure how this is a weizen bock- perhaps a normal bock? Tart aftertaste with some cardboard. Inoffensive but another lackluster Sam Adams creation.

Bottle. Pours clear orange brown with a midsized white head. Malty caramel in the nose, not much else. Malty caramel taste also, do not taste much spice, it is kind of creamy tasting also. Slightly viscous mouthfeel, not much carbonation. Average but enjoyable.

12 oz bottle Pours a dark brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma favors sweet caramel malt, with some spice (maybe a touch of nutmeg). Flavor continues to favor caramel, but with a slight buttery note that is reminiscent of caramel corn. Thin mouthfeel compared to other winter beers (it is a lager after all). Overall a decent beer at a fair price.

Decent winter beer. Brownish pour and a good balance. Not much to say it is an average run of the mill beer.

Amber pour with an average white head. Some seasonal spices and malts on the aroma and somewhat of a hoppy finish.

Bottle pours brownish amber. Aroma is sweet malts and spices. Flavor is light sweetness, light spiciness, with a peculiar tartness in the finish.

Pint on tap. Pretty amber pour with a creamy two-finger head. Malty and spicy on the nose. Flavor is sweet malt with a trace of nutmeg and cinnamon. Earthy hop profile in the finish. Thin body, but overall a tasty beer. (And, sadly, loads better than the other options at the hotel bar.)

Nice, winter brew. A little bit of the spices without being so clear as to be identified though.
