MishkinBeer (64), , New York, USA Dec 30, 2008 Brewed with cinnamon, ginger and orange peel, the winter version provides a greater complexity in taste. In addition to the above mentioned flavors, hazelnut and cherry essences emerge as well. The lager is clear and deep red in color. Less carbonation than the Boston Lager. This beer is still a bit watery, but overall I found it quite enjoyable. nchomefinder (29), North Carolina, USA Dec 29, 2008 pours a copper-color with a very small, creamy, off-white head. good aroma, malty flavor w/ a taste of spices that are not too strong, well-balanced, finishes with some final notes of caramel. great seasonable beer, one of my favorites. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Dec 28, 2008 Pours dark reddish amber, roasted malts, caramel, little hoppy, little spice. branspra (204), Arlington, Virginia, USA Dec 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small, white head. Aromas of malts, hops, and roasted grains. Creamy texture with a roasted malt flavor. For a lager beer, not bad but something I would not order at a bar. KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 28, 2008 Deep amber with a medium off white head. Sweet aroma with butter and caramel notes. flavour was sweet with toasted ma;t, caramel and floral hops. Finished bitter. ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Dec 27, 2008 12oz bottle and on tap. Pours a nice amber hue with a decent head that leaves a light lace on the glass. A rich caramel aroma with some roasted malt flavor with a light crisp hop aroma. The flavor is nice sweet malt taste with caramel and a burnt almost smoky taste to it. Their is almost a slight grainy taste and a husky flavor. A highly carbonated brew with a slight creaminess and a nice lager.
JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 27, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber with a one inch off-white head. Aroma of malt and more malt that is caramelly and sweet. I dunno that I can call this a weizenbock. This did not really have the weizen part, of which I am not complaining one bit. More like just a winter ale that is brewed like a lager. Super malty flavor with a tiny bit of yeast, some hop and a medium finish. TOSG55 (75), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA Dec 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear amber, with a nice head. Aroma of malt, spices, and a bit of lemon. The flavor is caramel malt, with notes of yeast, and just a bit of spice. Not too complex, but very drinkable, and probably my favorite in the Sam Adams line.
