esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Nov 29, 2008 Clear amber with a thin off-white head. Spicy aroma with sweet malt, cinnamon and ginger. Taste is spicy as well, in line with the aroma with some added fruit and caramel. The spices aren’t overpowering and seem to mix in well. jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 29, 2008 Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Amber with a tan head. Weak aroma with some maltiness. Somewhat sweet with a very light bitterness. Light to medium bodied with light carbonation. FunkyBrewster (436), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 29, 2008 Pours a clear dark reddish brown color with a thick creamy white head. Aroma is mostly caramel malts with a bit of spice and a tiny bit of dark fruit. Flavor starts out with an early kick of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg but stays mellow and dives straight into a rich buttery caramel sweetness that stays through the finish. No bitterness here, very malty and sweet not unlike the Boston Lager with spices. Medium body and average carbonation. Very easy to sip and nice for the cold months but there are "warmer" winter beers out there. Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Nov 28, 2008 pours a dark amber colour with a thin off white head.
Aroma is nice dark roast malt, slightly plum like fruit.
Flavour is toast caramel malt sweetness, again some plum like dark fruit tones. some light woody hop and a hint of vanilla in the finish. Could be a bit smoother though. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Nov 28, 2008 (Bottle). Faint malty aroma. Copper body, tiny off-white head. Flavor is mildly sweet, mostly malt with caramel. On the whole, nondescript and disappointing. I was expecting somewhat better. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Pour was dark golden with a light tan head. Aroma was nice with wheat and light spices. Flavor included hints of nutmeg, hints of hops, and a little citrus. Not a bad brew at all. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA Nov 27, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours an orange amber with a small white head. Slight spice on the nose, cinnamon, nutmeg, and some malt. Flavor is malt forward with some spice on the back end. Finish is smooth, palate is thin. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 26, 2008 Pours clear amber.
Aroma has some spicy notes of the season with a malty and hoppy nose.
Taste, light spices, malts with light hops.
Some cinnamon spices, leaving a rather weak finish. Overall taste has the signature Sam Adams feel, nothing special about this one.
