COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

This is one of the better winter beers I've had. Aromas of fruits and nuts; flavorwise, spices are very apparent, but balance out nicely to leave a nice not-too-bitter and crisp finish

This beer totally blew me away! I have drank Sam Adams for many years and don't usually like it when they try changing things up, but this was sensational! An excellent tasting beer that goes down very smooth with a very enriching quality.

Nice foamy tan head on a clear amber reddish body. Nose is weak, I only sense a litte malt. Is is quite flavorfull with notes of roasted malt, nutmeg, pepper and caramel with a nice alcohol bite to the finish. Smooth.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2004 This has a nice palate with festive spices. It was enjoyable but I probably would not buy it but like maybe once a year if that.

Sam Adams Holiday Sampler case is a wonderful variety! Enjoyable, with a malty tone that accompanies an impressive golden color and smooth finish.

Nice looking beer. Good head and lacing. A decent offering from this "macro micro." Relatively high ABV, especially for a lager, and well hidden.

This hearty beer was burgundy in color and had hints of caramel and vanilla. This beer leaves a warm feeling when finished.

Great beer. Wonderful aroma, great taste with a bit of hops and a good aftertaste. The color is a somewhat dark reddish brown. Overall this is a great tasting beer, always leaving you wanting another,

Dark red color with an off-white craggy head that soon disappears. The nose is sweet with bananas, caramel, malt, possibly some vanilla scents. Sugary flavors are immediate but they quickly disipate. Malt and caramel take over to dominate. The finish is a subtle sting of bitterness. I could of had a few more of these.

(draught) Tannish/caramel color under NO head. I thought this was a fluke so I sent it back and got it the next night at a different place, still the same. I'm sure this is a distributor problem, not the beer. Anyway, lots of subtle aromas of brown sugar, cinnamon, spiced orange candy. Tastes quite sweet and malty, but bland otherwise and just okay. Not offensive or exciting, the Sam Adams trademark. Finishes warm with good alcohol kick that I liked.
