COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

"a dark wheat lager brewed with winter spices." the quote is agreeable. a little bit sour, christmas spices (think dessert), with faint association of fruit. nice, it doesn't truly suck. but, i'll pass.

Copper colored with a moderate creamy head-good malty aroma with a clove and cinnamon spiciness. Medium bodied and smooth, malty and fruity-plums with a citrus note. Faint hoppy bitterness and alcohol in the finish.

dark and malty aroma. first sip was perhaps a bit too cold--tasted bland--but once i let it warm up a little there was quite a bit more flavor to it. i can tell it's not made with a weizen yeast, though/ strong dark malty taste, with a spicy dry finish. my advice is to let this one warm up a little before drinking! overall not bad, a good winter beer.

Why they brewed this one is beyond me, unless it was to make a few more bucks. Oh! It was t make a few more bucks! Thin. low gravity crap that I'd expect from Miller or Bud.

I don't have any other experience with the style so I can't compare it. Malty sweet, spicy aroma, darkish amber color, nice smooth spicy flavor. I like this beer better than most of the winter ales I've had. I'd buy it again.

for a wheat beer this is pussy and to add its even a dark wheat beer makes it worse maybe it aint my cup of black tea but overall the hop taste is decent the aroma is sweet with mild spice to tickle the nose.well worth a try

All in all a decent beer, but a poor example of a weizen bock. Where's the wheat? Deep amber, fruity/floral aroma, some malt flavors but was weak, some bitterness. Drinkable.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2008 This is by far one of the best seasonal winter beers I have ever had. Dark amber in color with a creamy head. Really impressive

Bottled. Brownish amber with rich, creamy head. Flowery toffee aroma. Sweet, medium boided. Short mouthfeel, weak malt structure. Fruity with motes of plums. Some salty bitterness.

Dark amber in color. All sorts of spices in the air, combined with malts. Very malty and spicy beer. Good beer to drink through-out winter.
