Dark chestnut color. Had a sweet, warm nutty taste throughout. Not really much bockness here, but a pleasant mildly sweet beer with low carbonation.

Orange-copper colour. Nice buttery malt aroma. After the aroma I expected a rich malty flavour, mais c’est tres sec. Medicinal, alcoholic flavour with a sweet candyish finish. Thinnish in body.

Weizen bock? Man, these Sam Adams beers all taste the same.

Sam Adams should stop experimenting and just make their Boston Lager (well, maybe the IPA too). It seems every SA specialty is beer is a bit overboard. Too many spices, just too much going on with this beer for my senses.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2004 Weizen bock? Didn't seem like it. A little Bock-ish, but it's filtered, making it crystal clear. I had no idea this was a weizenbock when I drank it. Overall not bad, but as with other Sam Adams I've had, nothing stands out, so it's unimpressive. Very clean and malty though, like a bock. Smells better than it tastes. Re-rate 1/7/04: Initially sweet and wheat, no yeast notes, very weak finish. Beautiful to look at though.

Slight fruit nose with plenty of spice. Goes down well on a cool evening. The hops is there but hardly overpowering.

Copper body, creamy head. pleasant cranberry nose with spices and malts. Lots of stuff going on there. Plenty of barley & decent malt backup. A remarkable aroma.

This is my favorite from the winter sampler. It is the kind of quality that I would hope to get the Boston Beer Company. Good flavor, not too hoppy, but they are noticed, and the aroma is pleasant.

Quite dark in color, aroma is malty, pleasant hints of spice/fruit. Flavor is also pleasant and fairly well balanced, however does not inspire or approach Victory’s effort.
