Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

Clear sparkling ruby amber with a creamy off-white head. Lacing is decent but not great. Aroma is spicy and flowery. I also detect some butterscotch. Flavor is sweetand kind of one-dimensional. The flavors seem to vanish rather quickly also. The body is a tad watery. A slight alcohol tinge develops after the swallow. Overall not too bad but not really a weizen bock.

The best of the Sam Adams clan that is easy to find around the Winter. Great aroma with wheat and spices. Has a lot of taste, though not as much as normal Sammy Lager...which is maybe a plus or not. Definitely packs more of a punch than you would expect flavor wise and alcohol wise. A beer to have anytime this winter and enjoy.

Started off tasting kind of sweet and marzenbocky. Was quite surprised when it turned half way through to become basically undrinkable. I will resample on tap tho to make my final decision.

On tap at Summits Wayside tavern. Good Amber color. Heavily malted could have been better balanced. Not bad.

Copper color and clear. Strong malty beer with little hop. Clean lager character. Spices kept to a minimum.

Thick white head on thick golden-amber beer. Wheaty-carmal. Nut linger followed by alcohol. Complex taste. Worth trying again.

Amber in color with a frothy off white head. Aroma is malt, bread and floral. Flavor is slightly sweet with notes of spice and vanilla. Pretty good.

Deep orange-gold body, medium carbonation, and dimpled head with decent retention. Caramel aroma plus mild floral hops and all-spice. A crisp, tart, and malty lager with some nuts and spice. Tasted like a Vienna. I was stunned to see the style listed as a Weizen Bock.

In individual parts, this beer is really good, but it's not spectacular in any individual aspect.

Pours a caramely orange-red, with a thin, dissipating off-white head. Aroma has that characteristic wheaty tang and spices are evident too. Flavor begins rich and full: tangy, tongue-tingling wheat, caramel, bread, a touch of fruit, and spices. Some floral hops bitterness in the aftertaste. Does have a rather thin body, as do most Sam Adams beers. The only problem with this beer is that the spice flavor becomes tiring over time. A solid brew overall.
