| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Raisiny malty nose with hints of dates and cinnamon. Ultra reddish amber, small but frothy head. Rich malt and maple fig sweetness, good clean hop bitterness for balance. Full carbonation, medium body, finishes slightly thin. Good complex maltiness with solid balance. Could use a little more body to provide some backbone to the flavors. illidurit (872), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Poured into a pint glass. Dark copper color with a light tan head that fades to a nebulous cap. Big thick sweet malt aroma with some cinnamon and wheaty esters. Flavor is less sweet with dark malts, ginger, and noble hops. Semi dry finish, thinnish body. No real distinguishing features here. Needs to be thicker and sweeter to be a good winter beer. Dango (26), Snekkersten, Denmark

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Tastes and smells like cardboard, maybe I just had a bad bottle though? Maybe a little smell of cinnamon in there somewhere. icculus801 (24), New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Sweet aroma with hints of banana and clove. Pours a translucent brown with a pronounced off white head that thins out quickly with nice lacing. Taste is sweet and malty, but I don’t notice a lot of spice. Feels syrupy on the tongue and gives way to a fairly clean finish. A good offering from Sam Adams, but it doesn’t approach the best from this category, e.g. Aventinus. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep amber/brown with a thick, fluffy off-white head. Aroma of sweet wheaty malt and faint cinnamon. Flavor of sweet malt with a slight vegetal quality and some buttered popcorn (seems to be a common flavor among Sam Adams beers...). Nice and tasty. Sam Adams knows how to make their lagers! basewars (145), Albany, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is cinnamon but weak. Flavor is malty with a little hop bitterness. Good beer, but not a great example of the style. thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Bottle. Aroma...slightly sweet, a bit of citrus. Slight spiciness, but not a whole lot. Flavor is a little roasty. Nice and warm, with a citrus afterthought. Slight spice notes. Clove, allspice, and a dash of cinnamon, I think. Overall, Very solid.
