| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Pours a dark clear brown with a thick white head. Aroma of caramel and spices: cinnamon, clove, some wheat, etc and so forth. Flavor has a bunch of spice with burnt caramel sugar. Finishes kind of spicey with some hop. My favorite Sam Adams seasonal by a landslide. mctous (119), Herndon, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2008 The nutmeg really blends well with the wheat aroma without overwhelming it. Sam’s Winter Lager pours with just-right carbonation and plenty of lacing and head retention. The flavor is very clean with subdued wheat and noble hop flavors. The spice lingers in the finish, detracting somewhat from the palate. The mouthfeel is just right. Overall a well-brewed weizenbock which just lacks the complexity and depth of its German counterparts. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA

Smells super malty. Tastes of a bit of clove and wheat, mostly caramel malt, a bit vinous. No hops to speak of. Adequate carbonation- something that BBC always seems to get perfectly right. Very good stuff, here. Try it out. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA
