DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Apr 2, 2008 Bottle. 5.6% ABV. Very pretty amber color with a big slowly-diminishing beige head. Spicy nose with ginger and some hints of cinnamon, some malt and caramel and notes of wheat. Flavor is sweet with malt and caramel, spices, rather faint hints of wheat and some light sourness towards the finish. Light to medium-bodied. Doesn’t taste like a Weizen Bock and nothing great whatever style it actually is. OK. wacohoover (100), Garland, Texas, USA Mar 27, 2008 This was better (and darker) than I expected it to be. Overall, it tasted fine, but I wouldn’t jump for joy upon drinking it again. I could use more malt. It tasted similar to their regular Boston Lager, only not as good. jarndyce (38), Idaho, USA Mar 25, 2008 Bottle
I’ve had very good results with this one. Dark brown color. Decent thick head. Nice sessionable lager, in my opinion. jrmac (210), USA Mar 24, 2008 Overall this beer is pretty good. I don’t think you could drink a sixer of it, but thats not the point. Great reddish brown color followed by nose of malt. It is very thick on the palate, and it tastes great. Would buy again. TheBeerBaron (218), Florida, USA Mar 23, 2008 Dark copper trnaslucent color, foamy off white head that has superb lace. Mild carbonation going to the top. Heavy malt aroma with apple mixed in. Malt flavor muted by a bitter hop. It could have tasted more crisp but ends up too heavy. Don’t know if its the flavor that makes the palate feel heavy too. Winter lager is a Sam Adams perrenial offering but it is not one of their better beers. austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Mar 23, 2008 Nice dark copper with small beige head. Nose is caramel malts and spices (ginger & cinnamon). Flavor like a warm apple pie, rich maltiness with appley cinnamon. Finishes with lingering maple syrup and ginger, a hint of warming alcohol even. Medium bodied, smoothly carbonated and a bit sticky palate. Nicely different, delicate dessert beer. One of my season favourites! pumpmaster (474), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Mar 23, 2008 12ounce bottle purchased at ABC Liquors Pembroke Pines for $1.89. Very good. davidCC (130), New York, USA Mar 21, 2008 I did not like this beer when I had it, maybe it was a lil’ out of season and therefore a little old because I thought the flavor was off.
