Clear tan brown with nice fluffy head. Smell is nothing fantastic - just a bit yeasty and malty. Tastes similar to a seasonal - it has that funky spice taste and just isnt very fresh tasting. Slightly metallic in the finish. A bit thin - but not overly so. Drinkable, however I wouldn’t want it again. afireinside96 (826), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a decent off-white head. The taste is great; quite a lot of spices, wheat, some bitterness from hops, and a balanced malt flavor. markwise (1175), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2008 This beer has some flavor to it. After being disappointed by the black lager I was surprised by this beer. It has an amber color and some malty earthy notes in the aroma followed by a sugar flavor and a bit of an awkward mouthfeel. A worthwhile beer and a standard in the winter months. bierkoning (6017), La Tropica, Netherlands

Caramelly sweet flavor with cinnamon. Malty, well balanced, fresh tasting. Only a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Not bad! bluemooner (230), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Winter Lager is tasty and worth a try. I love the way the head foams up and is a nice beige/brown and lacy to the end. Another fine Sam Adams brew that I enjoyed poured from a bottle.
