A rocky off white head, about an inch thick , dissipates slowly with good lacing. Malty nose, a touch of chocolate malt and spice. Malty taste, caramel with wheat undertones. A touch of spice. Not terribly bad, but not all that stand out. Drinkability is pretty high, though. rds (226), USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2008 bottle and tap. for some reason I like it more from the bottle. this is an amber brown color with a lot of head that lasts the whole beer. there is a bitterness to this beer that I’m not quite sold on but it’s not bad. A good winter beer for sure. mabel (2590), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Clear, dark orange brown body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy malt flavour has a bit of toasted boozy yeast. Medium body. Good to try. sstackho (249), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2008 12oz bottle from Clarendon Wines in Boston. Pours a clear dark gold with decent head and nice lacing. Aroma is all malt. The flavour is pretty nice - and not all malt as I was fearing. It’s well rounded with a decent amount of fruitiness. Spices do not stand out, but perhaps they contribute to what I’m tasting. I’m pretty happy with this one.
