FlyingSwine (169), Littleton, Colorado, USA Dec 22, 2007 Great looking beer in the glass that disappoints. Was hoping for far more than I received. Aroma was weak, and the taste seemed burnt. Mouth was overly carbonated and thin. joekfsu (138), Boardman, Ohio, USA Dec 22, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with 1 cm off white head that is mostly lasting. Aroma is light, only able to get a hint of gingerbread. Initial taste of ginger, spice, and citrus. Hint of hops balanced with sweetness at the end. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, slight lacing. Alcohol is hidden well. Very drinkable beer and look forward to it every year. TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Dec 22, 2007 Wanted it to be better than it was, I always love Winter Lagers, but this one was a disappointment. Redish brown, with no head, tastes like.....cant even describe. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Dec 22, 2007 Nice copper color with some head. Smells of spice and malt. Palate is somewhat thin, but nice crispness. Nice spice flavor with some sweet malt and light hops. A decent session winter beer. tagz (334), USA Dec 22, 2007 pours dark orange amber, little to no head. solid malt backbone with moderate bitter hop. had a nice thickness to it, and the flavors were just really well balanced. nothing super unique about it but overall a solid lager that is a good option when the draft selection is thin. popdoggy (100), USA Dec 21, 2007 I enjoy this. Altough light in the aroma and a little watery, not a bad beer. Not a winter warmer by anymeans. not bad for a session. JimTuna (19), USA Dec 20, 2007 Had a very nice cinnamon and nutmeg taste. A very good job at producing another delicious seasonal brew. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Dec 20, 2007 Tap at Old Chicago. Light and transparent mahogany pour; thin white foam to last. Thin aroma of wild rice, maple syrup and fig jam. Berries and raw dates layer timidly in the flavor with honey, mild whiskey, and bananas. Sweetness is quite tangy in this example; the slickness of sugar and syrups lacks a substantial canvas on which to spill itself in the reckless way that it does. Lazy and restive; needs some substance. Thin and crisp on the palate, sweet and light in the form of juice from concentrate. Minerals and water in a dirty finish. Nothing offensive, certainly, but this example definitely highlights the problems that seem common in attempting this style.
