12 oz. bottle. Pours a reddish amber color with an off white head. Some nice white lacing rings the glass. Nose is of malts and nuts with some light cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is the same. Good "average" winter brew.

Bottled. The beer pours more red than brown, with a light cream colored head that disipates quickly. The smell is typical lager, not noting many spices in the nose. The flavor picks up on some nutmeg and orange peel, but a has an odd biting finish that does not flow with the rest of the flavors. Overall, it’s decent, but will not be a regular winter selection for me.

The only Sam Adams beer with a light blue label. The brew is dark auburn with a light head, and has a pleasantly sweet, malty, spicey flavor. There is a hint of cloves and ginger, but also a little metal in the finish. This seasonal is up to SA’s usual high standards.

I thought this was a great beer, one of my favorite from Sam Adams. A very easy to drink winter lager that I like to enjoy at the bars with friends.

draft: Just like the Dark Lager but more roasted malts & spice. I find the Sam Adams beers just really lack that smooth finish that higher quality malts bring to a beer. Not a bad beer, but by no means will I go out of my way to get this. Forgettable.

Bottle. Appearance: Cloudy golden brown, think off white head. Aroma: Cinnamon and spices, other nutty smells... maybe nutmeg and hazelnut.. Palate: Medium, carbonation. Flavor: Very nutty and malty. Cinnamon is strong but not overpowering. Overall: Decent winter lager, very easy drinking.

Pours a very nice looking clear dark amber with ruby hues, with beige head. Aroma is full of caramel, molasses, signs of dark fruit . Taste is very much the same with some hop flavor and nice alcohol spice and light citrus. Mouthfeel is medium body, high carbonation. Overall, I really enjoyed this, very tasty brew! I somewhat enjoyed this beer...Nice cinnamon flavor, also with fruity, spicey notes. Head retention was ok. Nice color and aroma. Would buy again for an in-exspensive holiday beer.

12oz Bottle, Winter Variety Pack: Clear amber body w/ reddish highlights. Huge beige head on the pour, leaves some light lacing behind. Malty, spicy aroma. Also picking up a slight licorice aroma hanging in here. Toasted malt flavor that fades into light hops. Finish is fairly dry & lasts awhile. Has a nice nuttiness to it, a bit on the thin side though.
