Palate is somewhat thin, but nice crispness. Nice spice flavor with some sweet malt and light hops. A decent session winter beer. tagz (334), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2007 pours dark orange amber, little to no head. solid malt backbone with moderate bitter hop. had a nice thickness to it, and the flavors were just really well balanced. nothing super unique about it but overall a solid lager that is a good option when the draft selection is thin. popdoggy (100), USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2007 I enjoy this. Altough light in the aroma and a little watery, not a bad beer. Not a winter warmer by anymeans. not bad for a session. JimTuna (19), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2007 Had a very nice cinnamon and nutmeg taste. A very good job at producing another delicious seasonal brew. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 20, 2007 Tap at Old Chicago. Light and transparent mahogany pour; thin white foam to last. Thin aroma of wild rice, maple syrup and fig jam. Berries and raw dates layer timidly in the flavor with honey, mild whiskey, and bananas. Sweetness is quite tangy in this example; the slickness of sugar and syrups lacks a substantial canvas on which to spill itself in the reckless way that it does. Lazy and restive; needs some substance. Thin and crisp on the palate, sweet and light in the form of juice from concentrate. Minerals and water in a dirty finish. Nothing offensive, certainly, but this example definitely highlights the problems that seem common in attempting this style. mcox90 (624), Wilton, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a reddish amber color with an off white head. Some nice white lacing rings the glass. Nose is of malts and nuts with some light cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is the same. Good "average" winter brew. beerdad (74), Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Bottled. The beer pours more red than brown, with a light cream colored head that disipates quickly. The smell is typical lager, not noting many spices in the nose. The flavor picks up on some nutmeg and orange peel, but a has an odd biting finish that does not flow with the rest of the flavors. Overall, it’s decent, but will not be a regular winter selection for me. Slipstream (746), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2007 The only Sam Adams beer with a light blue label. The brew is dark auburn with a light head, and has a pleasantly sweet, malty, spicey flavor. There is a hint of cloves and ginger, but also a little metal in the finish. This seasonal is up to SA’s usual high standards.
