I find the Sam Adams beers just really lack that smooth finish that higher quality malts bring to a beer. Not a bad beer, but by no means will I go out of my way to get this. Forgettable. blipp (1637), Newark, New Jersey, USA

Aroma: Cinnamon and spices, other nutty smells... maybe nutmeg and hazelnut.. Palate: Medium, carbonation. Flavor: Very nutty and malty. Cinnamon is strong but not overpowering. Overall: Decent winter lager, very easy drinking. Swalden28 (1446), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours a very nice looking clear dark amber with ruby hues, with beige head. Aroma is full of caramel, molasses, signs of dark fruit . Taste is very much the same with some hop flavor and nice alcohol spice and light citrus. Mouthfeel is medium body, high carbonation. Overall, I really enjoyed this, very tasty brew!
I somewhat enjoyed this beer...Nice cinnamon flavor, also with fruity, spicey notes. Head retention was ok. Nice color and aroma. Would buy again for an in-exspensive holiday beer. KawaBomber (193), New Jersey, USA

Huge beige head on the pour, leaves some light lacing behind. Malty, spicy aroma. Also picking up a slight licorice aroma hanging in here. Toasted malt flavor that fades into light hops. Finish is fairly dry & lasts awhile. Has a nice nuttiness to it, a bit on the thin side though. thealchemist (6), Cleveland, Ohio, USA does not count | 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 16, 2007 12oz poured into a glass. very thin to no head. smell is very faint, can’t decide what it smells like. color is a deep red under light. upon tasting: slight fruit flavor very homey. not to impressed i will say. but i am sitting here rating 3 beers tonight (Great Lakes Burning River, Blue Moon"s Full Moon winter ale, and this Samuel Adams) but overall if u want a winter ale go for the GREAT LAKES CHRISTMAS ALE. takes the gold. but this beer is decent i suppose. but im only 20 so what do i know right? wrong :) colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA

The nose is nutmeg, cinnamon, toasted malt, wheat, hints of honey and citrus. The taste is peppery, really citrusy and acidic. There where hints of spices. The finish was long and unpleasant. Kinda like tannins in a cab. unbalanced no hops. Going to try this beer again later. (I tried another bottle. and the The Acidity wasn’t ther and the beer was a fuller more flavorful I think I got a bad bottle.) michael-pollack (2642), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured amber in color with at medium-sized tan head that lasted throughout. Sparkling. Flavor is malty and earthy. Medium sweet. Tastes of malts, nuts, earth, and caramel. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, malty finish reminds me of fall.
