Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford City. Appearance: finger of khaki head, copper color, clear, light lacing, head does not last. Aroma: malty caramel, decent herbal hops, light spice, cinnamon. Palate: light body, average carbonation, light spice finish (not hot), thin texture. Taste: sweet caramel and cinnamon, with herbal and spice hops on the end to bring of a bitterness and winter season feeling. Overall, decent seasonal lager, very nice balance without spice overpowering sweetness.

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Dark copper color, off white 2 finger head... leaves some lacing. Smell of toasty malt with caramel and some bread along with spices mainly cinnamon. Taste of sweet malt, caramel, with something almost biscuit like. The spices come through with the cinnamon. Very easy drinking beer that’s perfect for the winter time. Haven’t had this in awhile but really did enjoy it, will get more often for sure!

"this beer used to fall strictly into the average beer catergory, but it’s grown on me a little. while i won’t go out of my way to get one, it’s pleasant, slightly spiced and slighty heavier body is a welcome addition to the fridge during the colder months. to me, it’s just a spiced SA Boston, but that’s pretty good. 2010 - this beer has been going a little downhill for me - pretty disinterested now...still ok

God kryddig lager både i smak och doft. Saknade bara lite mer beska. Flaska från Systembolaget. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I used to really like this before they changed the recipe. The old brew had lots of ginger and cinnamon on the nose and palate. Now, with the orange peel added to it, the citrus note is kind of off putting for what the beer is trying to be. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours amber in color, the aroma is sweet and roasty. The flavor is slightly bitter up front and finishes very sweet and spiced. Not a bad beer but not my favorite.

Transfer from BA review on 11-20-12- Poured from bottle in to pint glass Appearance – Pours a darker amber brown color with a one finger off white head. The head has decent retention fading to give a lighter level of lacing Smell – The aroma is biggest of some caramel and bready malt with notes of some spices mostly of a cinnamon and ginger nature . Taste – The taste starts out of sweet caramel and a nice toasted malt and bready taste. There are notes of cinnamon and ginger that quickly come to the taste. These flavors last throughout with some more bitter citrus flavors coming and going as the taste moves on. In the end a lightly roasted malty flavor with a very light herbal hop are left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side with a carbonation level that is average to below average. Both good for the bock nature of the brew. Overall – It is heavy and warming enough to make for a decent winter beer, but yet not too heavy to take away its more sessionalbe style.

Poured a ruby brown, with a frothy off white head. Aroma was of cinnamon, ginger, brown sugar, and roasted malts. You taste the ginger, cinnamon, and roasted malts, but it doesn’t go together that well. Kind of a root beer feel to it. Has a medium thin body with average carbonation. You get the ginger in the aftertaste, but is quite unpleasant. Could never finish the whole six pack at once. Two bottles is where I drew the limit.
