Bottle. Faint spice aroma. Sweet malt flavor with a little bit of spice. Lacks some "oomph" I expect with Sam Adams’ seasonals.

Not a big fan of lagers but, this was pretty damn good. 12oz bottle. Nose of chocolate, dried dark fruits such as plums, raisens, and other dried fruits, maybe apricot? Nice clean finish.

bottle with blue label poured a medium amber in color with a thin head on the beer and carbination on the lighter side. aroma of malt, spice, slight hops, and caramel. flavor has a caramel malt sweetness thing moving to finish on the thin side with some grains. flavor overall is not quite as bold as most winter beers, i guess it is a winter lager but then comes the dark bock thing that just screws with me. have come to like a few sams but this one is not my favorite.

12 ounce bottle. Samuel Adams Boston Lager for dinner one night followed by Samuel Adams Winter Lager for dinner the next evening. The pour delivers a beautiful copper-orange lager with a large tan head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, concentrating on molasses. There are also floral and grass notes, with a hint of orange and spices. The flavor also has a hint of orange, as well as a light honey flavor. These both complement the molasses and malt. There is also a spice that I find difficult to place. The bottle claims that it is cinnamon. So, it was off to the spice cupboard, which the wife keeps in meticulous order. I went to the "C" spices, grabbed the small jar of cinnamon sticks, unscrewed the lid, and indulged in the scent that wafted forth. Then I poked my nose back into the glass. Sure enough, the aroma of spices I noticed earlier is that of cinnamon, as is the spice of the flavor. It is subtle, yet present. A wonderful discovery—both the cinnamon through the use of the spice cupboard and the Samuel Adams Winter Lager itself.

pour is a clear dark copper, medium size foamy off-white head, good lacing. smell is malts, molasses, grains, spice, caramel. taste of bran flakes, malts, touch of caramel, some spices, leaves the mouth sticky. overall a good beer, bit on the watery side.

From a 12 oz bottle this poured a rich ruby red, with an excellent off-white head. Nose of caramel malts and piney hops. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavor of malts and hops in good balance. Easy drinking.
