Dark golden color with frothy white head. Mild caramel flavor with hints of toffee. Nice finish to the beer. A decent beer overall but feels more like an autumn beer than something fit for winter. Could have used a little more body.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at BWI... Deep amber with dissipating white head, no lacing. Warming spices on the nose, ginger, cinnamon, orange zest. Good malt backbone , balanced ... A little thin in the mouth feel . A worthy effort.

Bottle into stemmed pilsner. Appearance: Lots of head that diminished quickly. Transparent liquid with a dark amber to red color. Aroma: Complex cheese, spice, nut, and earthy nose. Taste: Completely different from aroma with cider spices, lemon, and lightly sweet finish. Palate: medium body, oily feel, average carbonation, bitter (for a lager) finish. Overall: Great beer to buy in a 6 pack and enjoy on a cold night.

11/28/2011. From bottle. Another nice winter beer. Dark roasted malt, spice, caramel and fruit. Sweet at first, then bitter. Some licorice notes. Very good.

Malty grain aromas. Pours clear copper with a minimal white head. Decently flavored for a lager, good maltiness.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Pours a rich ruby-amber with a LOT of fine-grained cinnamon-colored head. Nose is malt, clove, cinnamon, and a touch of bourbon whiskey. Orange and malt on the front of the tongue, with the spice and whiskey-like notes kicking in soon after. Finish is a little hollow; I wanted more substantiality. Overall, not bad, but a little light for the season.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear ruby reddish to copper coloured beer with lots of foamy blonde head dissolving fast, leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma is mostly malty with some grassy hops and little metallic sidenotes. Warming up, some butterscotch sweetness comes up. Taste is malty with little toffee sweetness and spices, mostly cinnamon. Mouthfeel is medium carbonated and medium full. Finish has some bitterness and even alcohol warmness to it. I could see this as a good winter warmer for someone who likes mostly lagers.

Cocoa, caramel, light spice aroma. Malty flavor: Toffee/caramel, biscuit, sweet, light roasted/cocoa. Subtle spiciness. Would probably make a good dessert pairing.

Picked this up at the local gas station. Poured from a bottle, it made a 1/2" head, gone in a flash and some lacing followed. Sam produces an OK domestic here which holds sweet in the mouth for a good while with a little tinge of bitter that is gone much more quickly. I was looking for a porter but this was all they had so it will have to do. Probably wouldn’t go searching for this one again.
