COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

Decent winter lager. Spicey and Wintery. Just ok. It's a winter beer. Nothing special but all right. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a ruby brown, with a frothy off white head. Aroma was of cinnamon, ginger, brown sugar, and roasted malts. You taste the ginger, cinnamon, and roasted malts, but it doesn’t go together that well. Kind of a root beer feel to it. Has a medium thin body with average carbonation. You get the ginger in the aftertaste, but is quite unpleasant. Could never finish the whole six pack at once. Two bottles is where I drew the limit.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle after inadvertently aging for over 8 months. Clear, orangey rust color with a 2-finger khaki head and very good lacing. Aroma heavily of toffee and cinnamon with brown sugar and other spices. Taste dominated by cinnamon, with brown bread, caramel malt, mixed spices, brown sugar, dates and light fruit playing lesser roles. Medium body and medium/high carbonation. Despite the unintentional aging, this is a rather nice spiced "winter" beer I'm enjoying in the middle of July. The cinnamon comes through too strongly, but not enough to ruin the flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Meh? Yeah. Ruby copper with an aroma of brown sugar, roasty malts and leather. Some mild bitterness on the front end that winds into a sweetish finish. Medium-thin body with a medium carbonation. Needless.

The body has a very dark coppery color with a thick off white head on top. The head is thick, creamy, has good retention and leaves some lacing on the glass as I drink. Its aroma is light with just a hint of spices coming though a modest, sweet dark malt. The flavor has a good layer of dark sweet malt with notes of sugar, caramel and lightly roasted grain mixed with just hint of spices. The spices don’t really jump out at you but they add just enough subtle complexity. The hops adds another level of leafy/spice and some bitterness for balance as well. The hops come out a little more in the finish and leave a slight mineral note behind. The palate is smooth and slick with light carbonation and a solid medium body.

Pours reddish amber and clear with half a finger of head. The aroma is dominated by cinnamon. Some other flavourings are detectable, like orange and maybe some cardamom along with some nicely roasted malts behind it all. Lager light body, round and dainty tones where some of the spices comes back. Surprisingly long finish despite the light body and delicate composition.

I used to really like this before they changed the recipe. The old brew had lots of ginger and cinnamon on the nose and palate. Now, with the orange peel added to it, the citrus note is kind of off putting for what the beer is trying to be.

Poured from bottle into pint glass: Pours dark amber with a thin offwhite head. Aroma of sweet malt, spices, and bread. Taste is more of the same. a little sweet and spiced, but nothing overly strong. A bit thin. but very drinkable. Same Sam Adams aftertaste. It’s ok.

Light brownish medium amber. Small, creamy off-white head. Aroma is breadcrust, light fruity, caramel, subdued spices, water/minerals. Light and crisp body. Watery mouthfeel, but not thin I suppose. Spices and breadcrust. Fair sweetness. Nothing rich or full bodied about it. A fairly easy drinking spice-based lager.

Interesting warming beer. Good with some meat. Bucket of spices at the nose, sour and malty on the tongue. Good one
