COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2014 Tap at New Bohemia. Smallish pint. Amber hue with some lacing. Aroma has roasted malt characteristics. Taste has malt notes and minimal, but steady hops. A little too similar to the Boston lager. Some caramel. Not one of the good winter beer options.

Bottle pour. Clear amber with foamy tan head. Malty aroma with light ginger. Light to medium body. Taste is floral, orange peel, and ginger. Very sweet and interesting (not in a great way) taste.

A nice lightly spiced dark lager with a creamy white head with an odd almost blue tinge over the deep brown lager. Drinkable, but with a lackluster, thin mouthfeel.

Going back through my notes and I have drank this for the past 3 Veteran’s Days in a row, twice at Applebee’s (free dinner). Anyway, this is a pretty good choice, for Applebee’s. Overall a decent beer, decent body and flavor. Nothing spectacular.

Drank from a pint glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. A nice, wonderfully , dark, brown brew. A good flavored beer, nice toasted flavors.

Surprisingly decent. Seems pretty Hardy. lacking in head, but nice color. Pretty good taste, but slightly too cloying, wish it was a lil cleaner. Nice herbal touch.

Some notes of spices and dark fruit. Semi sweet malt up front. Some notes of cinnamon, and plum. Coated with a thin bitterness on the finish.

On tap. Pours clear brown with minimal head. Smell is light spice not much else. Taste some cinnamon as well and then nothing at the end. Decent just not much to it.

I am still impressed that this brand is actually an American macrobrew. I dont usually buy their stuff, but it is a bit more distinctive than the rest of the crap this country puts out. It had a weird malt flavor to it and a bitter aftertaste that got on my nerves...nice head though...real creamy.

Spicy, somewhat of a bitter aftertaste. Strong, but not as full-bodied as other bocks. Good for a winter brew, though not something for frequent drinking.
