Bold and rich, with a touch of holiday spice. The first thing one notices about a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is the deep ruby color. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The cinnamon, ginger, and hint of citrus from the orange peel blend with the roasty sweetness of the malts to deliver a warming, spicy flavor. On the palate Samuel Adams Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with the season.

A bit too spicy for a bock in my opinion, but a very good beer none the less. Pours a hazy orange-tan with a decent off-white head. Goes down fairly smooth because it lacks in carbonation a bit. Not a bad winter warmer.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2012 Pours amber red with moderate white head. Some malt aroma. Taste is like that of the flagship with added malt. Easy to drink, but not overly enjoyable.

Clear tan brown with nice fluffy head. Smell is nothing fantastic - just a bit yeasty and malty. Tastes similar to a seasonal - it has that funky spice taste and just isnt very fresh tasting. Slightly metallic in the finish. A bit thin - but not overly so. Drinkable, however I wouldn’t want it again.

well, when I’m thinking of a winter beer, I’m not thinking "lager", but this is not a bad offering from sam adams.

Pretty much the same as the Boston lager but a little less bitter and a tad fruity. Not bad, but not excellent.

bottle. Its sweet aroma had a hint of fruit and the pour was a beautiful clear amber. The head on my quick pour was non-existent, but the palate was surprisingly complex for a domestic of this caliber

Tap. Poured a thinnish red/brown, with no head. Had a sort of sour and malty nose. Flavor was similar to the nose, and to their regular lager with some mild spice notes. This is very malty in throughout and in the finish. Not my first choice.

Pours a dark copper-amber with minute slightly offwhite head that dissipates quickly; nose is nutty caramel, rather sweet, sort of a nutmeg/hazelnut aroma; again very sweet on the palate, wheat shows up in the decent body for a lager, mild minty hops towards the finish. Pretty palatable if not very fortifying
