Clear, darkish copper with a medium-sized head that sticks and frosts the glass. Aroma is earthy butterscotch, caramel apple, and slight grilled corn. Flavor is even more of the same plus a little toasted nut and cocoa, and a nice sourish and earthy-dry twang on the end. Almost seems like a hint of peated malt in there somewhere. Medium body is smooth and slightly oily, with a small tingly and dry finish. Nice, widely available fall-winter session ale and probably the best seasonal I’ve had from Sam. Really tastes more like a high-quality ESB, but who cares. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA

Very well balanced taste between sweet and bitter. A hint of carmel and cinnamon can be tasted, but are not overpowering. Very impressed, would buy again. nchomefinder (30), North Carolina, USA
