Very smooth. Very little aftertaste. Slightly toasted flavor. Creamy mouthfeel.

12 oz, bb Apr 08. Clear, darkish copper with a medium-sized head that sticks and frosts the glass. Aroma is earthy butterscotch, caramel apple, and slight grilled corn. Flavor is even more of the same plus a little toasted nut and cocoa, and a nice sourish and earthy-dry twang on the end. Almost seems like a hint of peated malt in there somewhere. Medium body is smooth and slightly oily, with a small tingly and dry finish. Nice, widely available fall-winter session ale and probably the best seasonal I’ve had from Sam. Really tastes more like a high-quality ESB, but who cares.

Pours a deep amber color with a moderate head. Very well balanced taste between sweet and bitter. A hint of carmel and cinnamon can be tasted, but are not overpowering. Very impressed, would buy again.

pours a copper-color with a very small, creamy, off-white head. good aroma, malty flavor w/ a taste of spices that are not too strong, well-balanced, finishes with some final notes of caramel. great seasonable beer, one of my favorites.

I always look forward to this beer once it starts getting colder outside. It has a rustic color and has a good taste of toasted malt, spices, slight hop presence to help balance it out..Nice winter lager that you find any where. Overall a solid performer year after year!
