3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
easy drinking for a wheat bock... can’t taste much of the spices (which is a good thing). tastes like a brown-ale crossed with a dark wheat lager... can’t complain - especially if I can’t get a ’real’ bock at the local thriftway...

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber with a light brown head. Aroma of malt, spice and vanilla. Malty sweet flavor with warm spice notes and lingering vanilla finish. Medium to full bodied. Well balanced. A nice but rather tame holiday beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours nicely, dark but not too thick with a good head. Slightly sweet and pleasant aroma. Good malt flavor with little bitterness. Carbonation is a little much. Overall very drinkable and a nice beer. For long this has been a favorite and I look forward to it every year.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The Winter Lager pours a clear copperish amber color with an off-white head that lasted a bit and leaves little lacing. The aroma is fairly sweet, although I cannot distinguish, but there is also some spices present. The flavor leads with a hint of spice with ginger and cinnamon with toffee and orange also present. Overall this is a decent brew although it won’t blow you away.

355ml bottle, clear slightly reddish brown colour, small frothy mostly diminishing off-white head, average lacing. Heavily malty and somewhat spicy aroma of caramel, chocolate and nuts, moderate herbal hops. Taste is initially slightly sweet and acidic turning into a moderately bitter finish with a slightly alcoholic feel. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Fairly pleasant amber lager, not very distinctly spicy though. Not sure if that’s a bad thing necessarily.

Ok on tap, but nothing special for the style. Nicely balanced flavour bur not exceptional. Another good Sam Adams but not their best.

Bottle. Pours a brown color with white head. Malty sweet aromas with hints of spices. Cinnamon, spices, malty sweet flavors. Not very much going on with this beer. I won’t bother getting this one again.

Heavier body than the regular Sam. Little sweeter. Little bit of vanilla on the aftertaste. Not much going on though.
