3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2004 Draft, Dec 04 This seasonal is a bit more widely available in Chicago this year; I had this at the Cheeseburger in Paradise, Downers Grove, where, WARNING: they serve drafts in an inced-over mug. Still, the cold brings out a bit of spiceniess, probably from the hop bill. Good doughy, deep, dark roast malts amid the floating chunks of ice. My impression of this is much improved from last year.
Draft, Nov 03 Good half-inch head over a coppery body. But not a lot of smell. Maltiness is pleasant without having too much actual taste, though, just a little bit crystal. I had not pegged this for a wheat. Couldn't peg any kind of hop profile. Leaves a decent enough malty aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from B&M Hounslow, nice dark red-brown with a big but fast-settling head. Bready and spicy nose, reminiscent of gingerbread. Body is a little too sweet, but otherwise nicely malty and toasty with a delicate nip of ginger and citrus, and a herbal bitter edge.
