355ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours very dark brown with small toffee head. Fruity and malty aroma, particularly of plum. Flavour is bitter chocolate, dried fruit and a little hoppy. My first Imperial Stout, looking forward to more.

Felsenbrau (39) - Middletown, Ohio, USA - MAR 21, 2016
1pt 2.7oz bottle. Pours opaque deep brown, almost black, with minimal lingering tan head and some tan lacing. Aroma of plums, chocolate, toffee, mature apples or old pears. Taste of malts, slightly sweet, hints of bitterness. All flavors linger for a long, barely-changing finish. Easy to drink, refreshing, nothing too complex or exotic. Will buy again.

Well balanced beer. Nice aroma of chocolate, plums, caramel and typical flavours for a stout but also some fresh thing like after mowing. To much CO2 and too sweet for me. Still good beer.

Great Imperial Stout. Pretty unique... Samuel Smithís style. Right in the old tradition... just pure barley malts, bitter hops, and just enough roasted malts to create the characteristic aroma and color.

Impenetrable dark brown. Thin brown head with low retention. Aroma intensity 3.5/5. Notes of toast, butter, malt and chocolate in the nose. Medium sweet with underlying bitter. Full body. Interesting structure

Kauge (1451) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 9, 2016
Bottle from Uba ja Humal in Tallinn (Ä 3.60). BB Nov 2016. Pours chestnut brown, appearing black in the glass, with a beautiful, nicely lacing and retaining thick tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, a bit sweet of the sugar, chocolaty in a way like cocoa powder, nutty. Between 6 and 7. Gets somewhat buttery even, so 6 it is... Tastes sourish sweet with little bitterness, roasty and chocolaty. Again, 6 to 7... Body light and nearing watery, too bad about that... No residual sweetness, which is nice, but lacking strenght, oomph, kick... Carbonation near flat. Dry ashy finish. Some alcoholic (or aniseed-y?) vapours arise when itís lukewarm. Overall? Might be a classic, but Iím hardly a fan of such ítameí and dryish Stouts with little hops. Iím not saying itís not good though, it kinda is! : )
