Bottle at beertasting with Carsten Bertelsen 19 / 6 2013. Pitch black, with small tan head. Aroma, hops, roasted malts, raisins, figs. Taste, bitter, coffee/chocolate, raisins. Very carbonated, but that is nicely countered by the bitterness. Oily mouth feel. Nice stout.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown - almost black - with a small tan head. Very fizzy carbonation that could literally be heard when I poured it into the glass. Aroma of dark bread and raisins. Starts sweet and dry with notes of coffee and chocolate. A little acidic and then comes a dry finish. Slightly oily mouthfeel that is pleasantly countered by the carbonation. Great stuff.

550ml bottle pours a dark brown color with red on the edges, and with a big tan head what leaves good lacing. Aroma has a lot going on: at first I detected figs and prunes, but the roasted malts are just as pronounced, and I can’t ignore the chocolate either. There’s also a bit of vanilla, almost like this was barrel-aged. Taste is sweet all the way through with a medium body and light carbonation. Alcohol is so well hidden that I am surprised this is an Imperial Stout - it could pass for a strong porter. Very enjoyable, and a pleasant surprise.

Poured a deep brown/black, nice frothy tan head that leaves beautiful lacing in the glass. Nice creamy carbonation with tiny bubbles. Pleasant toasty notes with a hind of a barrel aged aroma. At first taste you get the roasted malts resembling dark chocolate followed by Carmel and figs and prunes, and it finishes with a hint of vanilla and alcohol reminiscent of a barrel aged ale! Really liked this one. Medium bodied, so easy to drink, but full flavored making you want more! On the sweeter side of stout, but not too sweet.

Pours very dark with enormous tan head that diminishes to a ring and leaves OK lacing. Aroma is super sweet - chocolate malts, licorice, berries. The sweetest smelling Imperial Stout I’ve had yet. Taste brings out some roasted malts and a touch of hop bitterness, maybe a little coffee - but all this potential bitterness is kept in check by the sweet chocolaty malts. Even the evidence of alcohol is kept in the background by its smoothness. Palate is thick, creamy, really smooth. Finish dries out a little, very nicely, with just a hint of coffee in the sweet malt aftertaste. This might not be mind blowing in any certain aspect, but it’s a solid, well-rounded beer with a great aroma and superbly drinkable. You could almost slam this beer, and that’s crazy to say about an Imperial Stout. Very drinkable. Well done.

From 22oz bottle to shaker. Smells malty, with notes of of caramel and barley. Tastes ,a similar dry taste, however with a nice chocolate taste, as well as coffee,

Not a strong Imperial porter. The aroma is weak as the beer is soft to the palate, anyway this porter has a marked enjoyable taste.

Bottle. Pours black with a decent, foamy coffee coloured head. Nice, though slightly odd aroma - spicy, meaty (beef jerky), malty. Incredible flavour with more to decipher than I can be bothered with right now. anyway, its coffee and rum and a touch vanilla and foodyness (not sure what I mean by that exactly) and surprising and really rather lovely. A bit of a treat.

This is one of the better imperial stouts out there and easily available. Some really nice dark fruit, molasses and licorice flavors backed up by strong chocolate aroma.
