Aroma: Rich, dark chocolate and deep licorice undertones. Some coffee, a bit of caramel, and a mild black cherry aroma. Alcohol is also present. Not the most complex imperial stout, but one of the most alluring I’ve smelled. Appearance: Velvety smooth and blacker than black coffee; very thick and opaque. Light brown sugar head with a texture like merengue. Gives the impression of a double chocolate cake. Flavor: Heavy licorice taste, a touch of cola. Very flavorful but also quite smooth and subtle; not overwhelmingly or aggressively bitter like some imperial stouts. Excellent chocolate finish, a great brew to serve with dessert. Palate: Very creamy and exceptionally smooth. Could be a bit more chewy, but overall, outstandingly pleasant on the palate. Overall: Perhaps the most drinkable imperial stout I’ve had, well balanced and with an alcohol content of only 7%. Superb.

Es curiosa. Aunque no tiene mucho aroma, luego tiene bastante sabor, yo diría que entre a chocolate y especiado.

Aroma: Pralines, chocolate, coffee, cocoa, light fruit (plum and cherry). Appearance: Black color, nice creamy head which falls down quite quickly, leaves lacing. Taste: Cherry, chocolate, roastiness, some coffee, plum, pralines, medium-low biterness. Palate: Bit lacks body, finish is sweet, cabronation is low.

355ml bottle. Can’t decipher the code date. Appearance: Black, opaque, with a low brown head that dissipates. Aroma: Dark fruit (cherry, plum, raisin) with a light roast and chocolate. Fruit and chocolate character most prominent. Taste: An earthy, caramel, roasted malt base, with a moderately strong bitterness and increasing astringent roast on the swallow. Mouthfeel: Medium body with some creaminess and low carbonation. No noticeable alcohol warmth. Finish: Leaves a crystal and roasted malt character long after the swallow. Overall: An earthier, more crystal malt based version of an American imperial stout. Also has a slightly more astringent roast character on the finish, and lacks the sometimes harsh alcohol warmth of American versions. A well made English version of the style reflecting on the harder water of the region.

Quite disappointed with this imperial stout. Pours dark brown with mild cream head. aroma was very strange! Palate was roasted malt and chocolate, but very weak for an imperial stout.

Bottle. Full bodied and slightly bitter. Could be less sweet to my taste. The aftertaste is truly stout like.

550ml bottle from LCBO. 7.0% Alc.Vol. Pours an opaque dark brown colour with two finger of lasting beige head. Beautiful lacing clinging to the side of the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and toffee. Taste is similar to Guiness but more creamy and has a metallic after-taste. Moderate carbonation.

Una Stout bien definida. Sabor y texturas excepcionales. Por sacar una pega, espuma poco cremosa.

Finally getting around to this one! Bottle, black beer, big, bamboo wood colored head, decent lace. Aroma is metal, malt, hint of molasses and dark fruit. Taste is toast, coffee, caramel, salt, hint of smoke. Palate is a bit light for an imperial, but the carbonation is very fine, soft and nitro like. This is a nice change from north American style impies. Finish is balanced, not dry or sweet. Quite good.
