Nose is mostly malty with hints of apple, caramel, and yeast. Once again when it comes to these English IPA’s, WHERE ARE THE HOPS? I like my IPA’s to have some balls and gusto, this one does not. I guess I am just used to the more potent and unique American IPA’s. This is a well balanced and tasty on the palate, just not what I look for in this style. BREWMUSKCLES (1094), New Jersey, USA

After I got used to that, I noticed the nice malty body. But all-in-all, this beer measured up as pretty mediocre. gunnfryd (3643), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 6, 2007 Bottled. Pours clear and golden, topped by an off-white head. Hops, some metallic note, malt and caramel in the aroma. The flavor has hops, malt, caramel, some sweetness, notes of beefstock and metal. Medium to full body. Hops, metal and some malt and beefstock finishes the beer. Except for the metal, it’s a fine beer in the English tradition. Nice flavor and second taste, hop in good amount. Could be better in flavor because I feel some bitter flavor. One of my favorites. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2007 Deep, treacley, brilliant amber pour with a heady waft of musty hops. Glugs musically from the pint bottle. Musty, crisply bitter orange yeasty-hoppy fruitiness. Distinctly Alt-like, but richer and heavier. Plenty enough hop pungency to stand up to your average Rogan Josh or Bhuna. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2007 pretty good; not as bitter as most India ales I’ve had. It has a burnt taste that hurts it a bit.
