Pours ceylon tea coor with a persistent head. Earthy, damp basement english hops such as Fuggles and East Kent Goldings on the nose. Caramel coca-cola on the palate. Overall, balanced well and true-to-style if you like English India ales.

A shining example of the IPA style. Great mouthfeel, fantastic aroma, lovely palate, exquisite balance, absolutely the best hopping you’ll find in any beer, I can’t think of a better IPA, really. Should be obligatory study material for any aspiring brewer. And of course, the idiosyncratic labelling of the Smith brews is always a pleasure to behold.

Bottle@home. Copper clear. Small head. Low carbonation. More bread than hoppy notes. Dry long mouthfeel. Short bitter finish. Difficult to the difference til an ordinary ale.

0.55 bottle. Clear, amber color and a small, creamy, white head. Aroma is certainly not that of an IPA; a lot of biscuit, bread, vanilla, and touches of caramel. Taste follows the malty sweetness with biscuit and bread-like flavors; again not much of an IPA but for a delicate bitterness. Medium body, very creamy texture, and soft carbonation. Finish brings out even more caramel, toffee, and biscuits. Overall the beer hits the spot for me; it’s really tasty, well-balanced, and simply pleasant to drink although they might consider changing the label because it does not have many, if any, characteristics of an IPA.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice hazy looking orange to brown color with a decent one finger white foamy head that settles down at a nice pace leaving a nice somewhat sticky lacing along the sides of the glass. The smell had a nice blend of sweet malts over top of some light bitter hops. The taste was mainly sweet malts. The palate sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Overall, I say this was a pretty good beer worthy of having again.

Pours a nice clear amber color with white head. Pine, floral notes, and some bitter citrus on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes bitter. Nice.
