Not a real smooth aroma or taste... Blame tradition I guess for that one...back in the day(1758) this would have been something wild! Today it's stale... But traditional... What?! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bernsteinfarben, recht beständiger, weißer Schaum. Erdig-fruchtig, ein wenig karamellig. Sehr englische Nase. Weich, leicht karamellig mit mittlerer Bitterkeit.

Clear amber, offwhite froth. Light malt and hops aroma. Bitter, old hoppy flavour with light caramel malty background. Bottled a year and half ago but still well within BBD, this one might have lost some of its original flavour and aroma. Ok but boring.

Aroma - nice bit of doughy bread, some toast, and faint floral hops. Appearance - body is amber and clean, nice fluffy white head about 2". The head hangs out for a good long time. Some frothed lacing. Taste - nice malt backbone, nice bread taste. Similar to a soft center of a toasted French loaf. The hops are floral and slightly spiced. Nice little backend zip. Palate - body is medium, the texture somewhat silky, the carbonation average, the finish nicely toasted.

Bottle, no date, SF0401. Light amber with a bright orange hue. Frothy, big bubbly head, adequate retention. Spicy hops, earthy in forefront, strong, distinctive water component, minerally but not off-putting, seems to fit. Light, but noticeable prune/raisin, highly kilned caramel/crystal malt. Hop nose is beautiful. Baked breadiness, with an intensely spicy hop flavor combine for a robust character in a sessionable-type ale. Finish with a lingering cheesy, earthy spiciness.

Pours dark gold/brown, decent tight head which lasts. Not much aroma. Easy drinking malty but with some subtle bitterness. These guys make good beer and this is no exception. Pint at The Olde Cheshire Cheese, where even a tourist haunt keeps good ales.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a copper color with a nice off-white head and good lacing. The aroma was a little weak with hints of hops and bread. The taste was slightly hoppy with more of a focus on bread and earthiness. It had nice carbonation, although it still went down pretty smooth. It had a dry and clean finish. This was tasty.

55cl BBE Jan.16. Aroma of caramel malts and gentle hops. Pours Pale orange with thin head. I expected more color for the style. Dry medium bitter with malt background. Some sweet sugars, and not enough bitterness. rough textured, which is also new for the style for me. Dry long finish. Pleasant brew, but try to get yours as fresh as possible and as cold as recomended. Some metallic aftertaste in mine.

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a hazy gold colour with a pillowy white head. Aroma is earthy hops. Taste is the same. Really nice beer.
