Crystal golden colour. Slightly pungent & pruney aroma. While mouth feel. Balanced & subtle flavour. Surprisingly malty for an ipa.

Bottle from Fyne Wines, Argyll. Pours clear copper-orange with decent (and lasting) white head, slight fizz; Initial sweet caramel malt aromas with dry hay, turmeric & garam marsala spices and hints of root beer; Good body, not too light or too heavy, very smooth; Flavours follow aroma with more soft spices and subtle grapefruit bitterness, apricot and peach stone fruits. Lovely balance and flavours and drinkability, I cannot fault this beer as it exceeded my expectations many times over. Perfection? Almost!

0.33 bottle from Maruhn in Darmstadt. Aroma of biscuits, malt and some grassy hops in the background. Amber colour, head disappears in a minute leaving thin layer but there is some lacing. Taste rather dry and a bit watery, a bit of caramel and nice bitterness but with metallic note, medium carbonation. After it gets a bit warmer it shows medium body. Overall a good beer, but not the favourite ESB of mine.

500 ml bottle. Pours amber with moderate head. Aromas of dry sweet malts and sourdough. Flavors are similar without much hop characteristics. Old bottle?

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a two finger head of thick white foam. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading to leave a decent level of sticky lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is big of a bready smell mixed with a moderate showing of an earthy hop aroma. Along with these smells comes some notes of caramel and a light fruity aroma of peach and apple as well as some notes of a grassy and herbal hop. Taste – The taste begins with a somewhat bready and cracker flavor with some light flavors of an herbal and earthy hop. These hop flavors grow slightly stronger in nature with the herbal being the more intense of the two. There is a little bit of a pear and peach as well as a light caramel flavor that are at the forefront of the taste, which end up fading a bit as the taste moves forward. With a little bit of a floral hop and even more herbal hop as well as a hint of grain, one is left with a rather herbal and dank, but crisp taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side while a carbonation level is rather average. For the style a little thicker body may have been slightly better for the hop, but while said, the thinner body did actually do a rather decent job for the more crisp and malty flavors of the brew; so overall the feel was decent. Overall – A more dank but rather easy drinking IPA. A little to thin and dank for me, but a easy drinker non the less and a rather fun one to try.

Bottle, 550 ml. Pours clear amber/orange with a moderate amount of soapy white head. Nose is dominated by caramel, bread and spices (cinnamon?) as well as some fresh citrus and orange. Bit like fruitcake. Taste is mostly sweet and fruity with more caramel, honey and eges of grapefruit layering over a bread/cakey malt base. Light and crisp on the palate with a medium body and a dry finish. Nice, if not remarkable.

Pours a somewhat hazy golden color with a thick off white head that left a lot of lacing around the glass. The aroma is sweet malts, grassy hops but very mild, and some bread. The taste is quite fantastic. I pick up some grassy hops as well as some breadiness. This beer is quite sweet and I also pick up some sweet/citrus coriander in there as well, almost sugary with how sweet it is. I pick up very little hop resin but very mild.
