Poured a deep golden color with a white, foamy head. Aromas of English malts, cereal grains and spicy hops. Sweet, ripe, dark fruits up front with more citrus-like flavors coming through later. Bitter finish, but not too dry. Carbonation just right. Hops are bitter, but not piney like a typical American IPA. Very complex. Style categories at this site need to be corrected. This ale doesn’t fit the ESB style, and wasn’t intended to.

Bottle - Dark golden yellow with a small head. Nice malty aroma with a sweet taste and a medium bitter body. Good sipping beer that reminds me of "Old Speckled Hen".

Aroma gives you a great preview of what’s coming. English hops with the great toffee malt that you get with an English ale. Earthy yeast notes are present too, with a slight grassiness. Very clean. Enough bitterness and CO2 to complement that rigid malt backbone. Sweet toffee and caramel with floral hops coming in to clean everything up. A nice breadcrust toastiness comes in late. Fantastic beer.

Pours a light amber color with a white head. Earthy hop, malt, caramel and toffee aroma. Earthy hop, caramel, toffee, biscuit and malt flavors. Medium body and mild carbonation. Earthy hop and malt finish.

Nice standard English style beer. Pours orangey-amber. Big malt backbone with some fruit and resinous hops in the nose. Taste pretty much follows. Lots of malts. Smooth and easy. Nothing to write home about, but pretty good.

Backlog. Bottle at The Green Lion Inn. A fine example of a classic english-style IPA. Well worth a try.

Bottle 355ml kindly shared by Dominique. Golden beer with low head. Nose is on caramel, nutty. Aroma is sweet, crisp, on caramel, light resin, lot of honey touch, light grass notes. Very drinkable, nice with long aftertaste on caramel and honey, not too bitter too.

Wonderful floral hop flavor throughout, blended well with a soft, light caramel backbone. Nice earthiness in there as well. Finishes clean, with enough sweetness to balance the bitterness, which is less than I expect from IPAs, but I suppose that is just the difference between the American and English versions of the style. Really nice to get a different kind of "hoppy" beer, all English in character, and overall just tasty and perfectly balanced.

Aroma is pretty subtle but there is some slight hoppiness and caramel malt notes. Taste is fairly bitter with some sweet maltiness. Finishes fairly dry. Body is a clear gold woth a cresmy head with pretty good retention.
