2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured a deep golden color with a white, foamy head. Aromas of English malts, cereal grains and spicy hops. Sweet, ripe, dark fruits up front with more citrus-like flavors coming through later. Bitter finish, but not too dry. Carbonation just right. Hops are bitter, but not piney like a typical American IPA. Very complex. Style categories at this site need to be corrected. This ale doesnít fit the ESB style, and wasnít intended to.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
550 ml bottle into imperial pint glass, bottled on 7/05/2012. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a nice 2 finger fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of orange zest, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, bread, floral, grass, honey, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of fruity/floral hop and yeast notes with good malt balance; and solid strength. Taste of orange zest, pear, apple, caramel, toffee, floral, light pine, toast, bread, grass, honey, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of orange, light fruits, caramel, toffee, floral, light pine, toast, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of moderate hop flavors; with a very balanced malt backbone and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good English IPA style. Very nice balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aromas redolent of a light barleywine: nuts, toffee, toast, and caramel. Clear orange-copper with a fairly lasting, white head. Dry, bitter, somewhat toasty, and with a touch of caramel. Light-medium body, good carbonation, and finishes clean.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thereís nothing wrong with this and itís a nice beer - itís nicely balanced and very drinkable, but the flavours arenít strong and the hop character isnít that powerful. Itís fine, but not worth the premium price when there are far better bottles in Sam Smithsí fridges or a pint of Old Brewery is almost as nice for half the price.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Doesnít have a particularly strong aroma for an IPA. golden color, but the head is not very strong. It has a pleasant clean taste. The combinations work well together. Overall a decent brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Really let down by this one. The originators if the style. Not to say its without qualities. Vibrant breast nose. Hints if honey and maybe elder flower. Taste is of slight bitterness with a caramel finish. Where the let down is the hops and lack of punch. Overall a solid beer actually.
