Aroma is of caramel and brown sugar with lmost no hop presence. First sip is very dry with some roasted nuts in the taste with trailing bitterness. One dimensional. I’ve yet to really enjoy a brown ale. Looked good in the pint glass though. altehkiller (71), , California, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Clear dark red, light head. Little aroma, some malts. Taste is a bit thin, but is slightly toasty and of malts. Fairly standard in my opinion. durhambeer (1200), Durham, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Pours clear, toffee-colored with thin gauzy white head. Nutty malts and toffee. On the nose. Oddly sour/lactic. Tastes better, more creamy and nutty. Mild hops. Decent but great. kuphish (158), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Bottle. Poured a gigantic, frothy, off-white head that slowly collapsed in on itself and left craggy residue. Impressive deep red, nearly brown, crystal clear body with dancing carbonation. Average malt aroma of caramel, toffee, nuttiness and some molasses. Light, herbal, earthy hop aroma. Aforementioned aromas persisted in the flavor profile, accompanied by some date and woodiness. Light, slightly sticky palate with a mildly bitter finish. Overall a nice brown ale, but I’m not wowed. bluemooner (230), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Pours a dark copper color with a thin tan head. Quite tasty with hints of toffee, brown sugar, light chocolate, some hops, caramel, and light coffee. Pretty good Nut Brown Ale. MBison (548), Southern Highlands, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Bottle (550ml).Poured dark burnt copper with a good sized, lightly tanned, dense foamy head which very lasted well. A complex & rich aroma with strong notes of sticky toffee malts, burnt sugar, muscatels, hazel nuts and light notes of chocolate. Flavor was of smooth caramel malts with a very mild earthy hop bitterness, toffee, toasted nuts, chocolate, sultana’s and light notes of blackberries. Light to medium bodied with mild carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, chewy texture and a good length finish. Very pleasant Brown Ale, perfectly balanced - not overly sweet like most.
